By the look on his face, he's playing the brown note.

To be fair, it's a pretty sweet chord.

He's serious, isn't he...

They are the worst...ugh.

That's actually a clever little dig at Apple.

2010-09-02 05:19:51 AM
Why would a musician (using the term loosely here) even consider other people who make music as "rivals?"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Clearly, you know nothing about being in a band.

Umm, I really hope he isn't digging at Apple.

To Chris Martin,

Feck off, you wanker.

Greetings,
Badgers.

Really? He's being made fun of for stage banter? At least make fun of him for something worthwhile, like how much they suck at music.

2010-09-02 08:53:01 AM
Introducing the track, Martin joked, "This is a new song called Coldplay 2.6 and it has a lot of new features; it features seven different kinds of chords and even a new one that our closest rivals have no idea no one gives a shiat about."

It's a joke. It was clearly a joke. There isn't even remotely any question that it was a joke.

Christ, there are a slew of reasons to beat on Coldplay, but this is just idiotic.

Why? You a big Apple fan boy?

Jeez. He was making a joke folks!

Why so serious?

God there are a lot of morans in this thread... led by their (probably clued-in) master, Subby. "What, Coldplay and a dig in the headline... Chris Martin is obviously being super-serial and needs mocking. The headline implies it!"

Poorly cloned sheep litter this thread.

No jokes allowed....especially if you are responsible for creating the vile, wretched, ear-puke that is known as Coldplay.

U2 also sucks.

Submitter is a fat tard.

Does anyone have a Tab chart for that new G note?

2010-09-02 11:48:16 AM
Here's my guess:

3
2
0
10
9
0

(lowest string to highest)
E string: 3 (G)
A string: 2 (B)
D string: 0 (D)
G string: 10 (F)
B string: 9 (Ab)
E string: 0 (E)

2010-09-02 11:50:08 AM
You have to have mighty long fingers!

Otherwise, you'd have to retune a couple strings to play the right notes!

Marla Singer's Laundry: Actually it's G9b13

G B D F Ab and E (omit the 11th)

you forgot "diminished"

/no idea

OK, I'll let the cat out of the bag for my band's 5 fans. The signature Fmaj9(no 3rd) chord featured in several Dollar Bill and the Unmentionables songs is played (low to high) (T)1-3-3-0-1-0.

(it's the thumb that throws them off)

John Mayer uses that chord, too, notably in the bridge of "No Such Thing." Take that for what you will. :D

When I was younger and (more) naive, I was sure I'd invented a new chord. And now you've forced me to listen to John Mayer for the first time.

Since it's Coldplay, I'm guessing he stole the original joke from Radiohead but made it less funny when adapting it.

He stole this from Hendrix, who would play the low E with his thumb allowing the G string to ring open.

He's just a c**t.

Well don't hold back, tell us how you really feel. :)
I think learning to play Purple Haze (badly) was pretty standard for guitar students in my day. These days I think it must be riffs by 311 they're teaching (shudder). However, comma, as a rank amateur who takes pride in being silly, I have a hard time sounding too authoritative on this matter.

/end blatant plug for crap bedroom band.

I like the video for "Bow Chicka Wow Wow." I'd never guess you were a Farker from that... noooooo. :)

It was clearly a joke. Subby (and some other wankers) needs to get a sense of humor.

2010-09-02 02:41:14 PM
I can envision the fingering of the G chord in my mind, and I'm not even much of a guitar player!!

In the picture he's playing an A-flat.

/insert obligatory A-minor joke here.

By any chance, do you have six fingers on your left hand?

Oh wait, I think I just got the joke. With 75% of the MP3 market, Apple is pretending they have a close rival!
