I'd say its time to just burn the city to the ground, but I'm not sure anyone would really notice

So... this would be classified as a GOOD day in Detroit, yes?

Welcome to Barack's America.

If he couldn't clean up his hometown as a "community organizer" (whatever that is), what makes anyone think he can clean up America?

AFAIK he hasn't been working in Nairobi as a community organizer. You should really give the guy a break.

What that city needs is some type of serious, police-themed protector... some 'thing' that would be almost superhuman and most definitely very focused on keeping the peace and protecting citizens... some means wherein we could utilize the basic function of a human being yet also be enhanced by robotics...

Tires had to be brought in and placed on the vehicle before it could be put on a flatbed and towed away, the mayor's office said.

If they put tires on the car, why did they have to tow it anywhere?

There's plenty of tagging all over most buildings in Detroit.

That's a geographic fail. Wouldn't the Chinese invade on the West Coast first?

Tru dat. Plus, they'll have to put Jennifer Gray's nose back the way it was... to much CGI...

That way the C. Thomas Howell character will have to stand atop a boulder righteously screaming, "leave britney alone!!"

Detroit is a great city. I have never had any problem there, but I suppose I don't go around acting like an a-hole.

It's set in Spokane, but it's filmed in Detroit (new window)

Has anyone raised the question why the Detroit mayor needs a security detail? With all the economic hardship, budget cuts, layoffs, etc., why does he need a security detail? Shouldn't those officers be redirected to a street beat so perhaps they can stop individuals from stealing tires off everyones cars.

Biness: get your shiat together detroit.

Err.. how? Isn't Detroit where it is today because there are no jobs? Perhaps something to do with automotive industry?

Short of creating jobs out of thin air, a "getting ur shiat together plan", might involve spending lots of money on social programs, make-work projects (infrastructure's a popular choice), and other pinko-commie-like behaviour. I can't imagine that would be a popular plan.

/why yes, I think I did take the troll-bait.. tasty!

I other day in Detroit, I saw an '85 Caprice Classic with 22" wheels and purple spinners. And I recall seeing it before, even though I rarely go into Detroit.

Yep, that's the mayor's security detail.

/"I other day in Detroit" sounds like an album title

If he had fixed any problems, he couldn't keep saying that things were terrible and more money is needed. The funding would have dried up if things got better.

2010-09-01 10:57:50 PM
Given that it's the Detroit city government, I'd be very amazed if they were running sensible wheels and tires.

My bet is that one of the locals just upgraded the rims on his shiatbox.

So what?

Is it that it doesn't happen more often?

Biness: get your shiat together detroit.

Welcome to Barack's America.

This has been going on way longer than Obama. The current mayor isn't really one of the thug gangstas that Detroit had previously, so he lost his street cred.

They would, it would be a shaitload nicer.

Detroit: where the police stations have bars on the exterior windows, the churches have bullet resistant glass & Santa doesn't visit since he's tired of patching bullet holes in his sleigh.

NYZooMan: Detroit's been heading deep into the shiat hole for over 40 years.

PLENTY of time to come up with a new plan.

I doubt there's any easy fix "your city's major economic backbone has eroded". Any fix would need money and long-term planning.. things politicians are not very at managing.

Came for the National Lampoons' Vacation references, leaving satisfied.

/wonders if they know the Commodores?
