and yet drunken messages that dylan sang to his on recording machine while drunk on whiskey after having punched a hippie in the face will still be better than 99% of the records out there.

I agree with you.

you should do it in the True Blood voice

I was rather hoping it was the unpublished vicious divorce album from the 70s Bob is often suggested to have recorded after Blood on the Tracks.

No you're not.

Shame on you for making fun of someone blind and deaf, anyway.

Toby Gleason says, "It's a seven inch reel-to-reel that sounds like it was taped from the mixing disc. ..."

Apparently they've never heard of a "mixing desk" over at Contact Music.

We've gotten to the point with Dylan where "Self Portrait," a truly terrible album, now enjoys cult status.

Bob Dylan has never acknowledged releasing this one under an obvious pseudonym: Video (new window)

How does it feel?
I am not a home,
Yet you're on my phone.
Message at the tone.

I have Bob Dylan's new unlisted phone number, so I'm getting a kick out of these replies.

I'm way up in the great north woods,
working as a cook for a spell,
please leave a message, after the beep.
Tell me who are you.
Add it to the queue.

Me? a Metallica fan?? Nope, that's way off.

One time I called Dylan and got his machine. It was a recording of Bob saying "When you hear the beep it will be three o'clock." He said that for over an hour, and I hung up.

durrr, go listen to some Bieber, you homosexual.

ok, now that made me chuckle.

Paraphrasing the advertising line for Camel Filters in the 70's--"He's not for everybody, but he doesn't try to be"

The typo's actually in the original Rolling Stone article, which is even more embarrassing.

I want a copy of John Lennon's answering machine message. Apparently, it was him singing:

We're not home
We're not home
We'll call you back
Cause we're not home

to the tune of "Three Blind Mice"!

Yeah, I don't blame ya; I'd be denying it too, if I was you.

Columbia hasn't released 1/10th of the Dylan recordings they have in their vaults. They'll be putting out these "new" CDs until kingdom come. Personally I was hoping for an 80s show for this Bootleg Series, but blah, maybe next time.

Also, some of us have already heard his answerphone message!

Well, Bobby ain't home right now
He can't come to the phone
So leave your name and numbaaa'
When you hear that lonesome tone

I'd gladly talk to you right now
I'd like to guarantee
But I can't speak on his behalf
Cos' I'm not really he...!

Dylan controls what they put out (it's due to the deal and the lawsuit when he re-signed with Columbia back in the 70's and he was still pissed about the Dylan album), so it's at his whim. Apparently, they do have a team that knows how to please him, as the Signpost discs were amazing and not your usual major label fare.

We're supposed to get a DVD or CD of the 1993 Supper Club show(s) in the near future, and according to Rolling Stone, they're going to start putting out Bootleg Series DVD's including Hard Rain and a documentary on the Rolling Thunder Tour. I'd love to see Eat the Document done, as well as some proper release of Renaldo and Clara.
