FTFA: Police said the case involving the Brazilians is the first in which they have broken up a ring in which traffickers brought in men, rather than women, to toil as sex workers.

FTA: "A police official said he did not know if the male prostitutes serviced men or women."

Here's a hint police guy, if it's a male prostitute, he's most likely either taking it, or giving it up the butt.

Women rarely, if ever, have the desire or the need to pay for sex. If women want to get laid, they get laid, for free. I have no study to cite for this, but this is the generally accepted truth from almost every male and female I've spoken to about this particular subject.

Unlike men, women are (supposed to be) into Quality, not Quantity. Sometimes the Quality is not there. I believe there's a market for male companions for women, a very narrow and discriminating market geared towards the independently wealthy woman and older wealthy woman. I agree with you, however, that these guys were meant to provide gay sex to gay men and bisexual men and men self-deceiving themselves into believing they are truly straight as long as they're pitchers and not catchers.

At my workplace we have to repeat a training course on human trafficking every few months. (For the purpose of recognition and reporting, not skill building. I know you were thinking it.) Everything in the training was in this articcle. The broken promises, debt, constant relocation, the threats. I'm rather impressed with the training AND the article.

A friend of mine in college manwhored in the summer - only with women. Made some really good money. Lot's of time the woman would just want him to go to a social event with them (wedding, dinner party, etc.), others wanted sex.

None, I don't travel for the DoD. The most human trafficking I see is when I head home from the night shift and see about 600 people lining up for the two metal detectors at the entrance.

We also get training on how to tell if your car has been tampered with, and how to survive a hostage situation.

Here's a tip: When the bullets start flying, get behind something, not on the ground. Ricochets hug the floor.

"Ricochets hug the floor"

That's getting filed for future reference just in case someone decides to shoot at me.

If it's that bad, you and every single other person should be throwing every loose object in the room at the shooter as hard as you can, yelling at the top of your lungs, and rushing him.

It's hard to shoot straight when you are getting beaned with books and such.

Active resistance against a shooter (assuming they are in the same room, and you can't leave for one reason or another) is the best collective action to take.

Allow me to clarify.

The situation described in the training is that a terrorist has broken into your hotel room and is keeping you there. You need to be prepared for the possibility of a police rescue involving large weapons and the latest in kevlar fashion accessories. When that happens you want to get behind the hotel bed and let the guys with guns do the work.

That's where the training says to use the furniture and not just drop to the ground, because of the ricochets. And you definitely don't want to rush anybody.

If poppers are involved, it was definitely gay sex. That sounds like one crappy ass job.

Depends on the wall. Most rounds won't ricochet off of sheet rock, unless shot at *EXTREMELY* narrow angles. Floors, on the other hand, are generally made of tougher stuff.

But yeah, hugging a brick wall is just asking for getting hit by a ricochet. I seem to recall our troops using that to fark with bad guys in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I was thinking of more solid walls than sheetrock.

We were trained to aim a little low in basic because the ricochet off the ground would nail the target while effectively increasing the center mass of what we aimed at. It works as long as you are close to the target when the rounds impacts. If you miss, you low and get to see the impact and can adjust for your second shot. If you miss high no telling where that round went.

I guess the side effect was it tumbles or slows the round enough not to blow clean through the target. A tumbling 5.56 round against an unarmored opponent geessshhh, that's got to be nasty.

I guess its the same principal with walls

///Sorry for the thread jack

I also got to see the Human Trafficking videos. Another thing not mentioned but in the video I saw. If a place has crazy security (beyond what is normal for the area) you may be dealing with an establishment that uses trafficked labor. Especially if security spends more time looking at the employees than the customers.

Next on the list applies to trafficked women, barring a total language barrier, women like to chat customers up. Women talk that's what they do. If they aren't chatting you up and constantly looking at over zealous security then there is an issue with human trafficking.

Been down range and mostly encountered volunteers. Although granted times may have changed since then.
