It's a natural process for our loved ones. Just because you no longer have use for a horse doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to put out in a nice pasture or minimum-security stable somewhere to live out the rest of his days.

So it goes...

Either party? There are more than two, you know.

You guys might have a president from Illinois that ends up in jail after his term as well.

Sure - if you want to throw your vote away.

If we actually prosecuted our crooked politicians in this country, they'd end up outnumbering the number of dope-smokers in the pokey.

Chicago politics? Corruption is the norm. Politicians should always be given the maximum sentence for any crimes they are convicted of, it should not be a position of privilege or celebrity.

Only these two bozos?

What, No love for Walker, Kerner, Matteson, et al?

Maybe they're finally figuring out where politicians actually belong?

I mean, they haven't taken it to logical conclusion of "rope + lamppost", but it's a step in the right direction.

I honestly thought Blago was going to be different from Ryan. I am disappoint.

No shiat. I haven't voted for a govenor in the last 2 elections because I didn't trust either candidates. I have a feeling I won't be voting in this next one either.

2010-08-30 01:18:04 PM
Well, I don't know for sure, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's because they keep electing politicians. That's just a guess, though.

Vote third party. That's what they're for - registering disgust with the establishment.

/Does the position of Illinois governor have a lot of power and little transperancy, like the MA speakers of the house?

Well, gee what could be wrong with the two party system?

How about divide and conquer.

Democrats ensure that Republican candidate is the worst possible choice for any election.

Republicans ensure that Democratic candidate is the worst possible choice for any election.

This is a choice???

This is a free and democratic election???

Our "best and brightest" are morally bankrupt, sociopathic money greeders.

So which Fail Party membership do you claim? Does no one see the folly of devoting work to ensure failure?

As an upstater, nothing would make me happier either. Illinois really should be two states, Chicagoland and North Kentucky.

There isn't much fun to poke at Kansas politics, to be honest.

NOW, the KS board of education.... that's another thread.

The man who succeeded Blagojevich as governor, Pat Quinn, has supported stronger ethics laws while also agreeing to compromises that dismayed some reform advocates.

Sure, stronger ethics. Like failing to hold a special election for Obama's Senate seat because he's afraid of Mike Madigan.

2010-08-30 03:00:45 PM
The author of this article obviously hasn't studied his history. Blago would be the FOURTH Illinois governor to serve prison time in the past 37 years.

The article excludes Otto Kerner (D), jailed in the '70s for bribery, tax evasion and charges related to accepting discounted racing stock in exchange for legislation favorable to horse racing, as well as Dan Walker (D), imprisoned for bank fraud and perjury in 1987.

Peoria (Heights) is known for its fine clown-based food district at the corner of War Memorial and Prospect... Not sure if I can fully agree with a town that has a clown district.

Trite, but obligatory: Why is there a westward wind in Missouri?

Because Illinois blows and Kansas sucks.

What happened in Kansas that I apparently have already forgotten about?

2010-08-30 03:32:14 PM
The shame of it all, Pat Quin, present Governor doesn't stand a chance of being elected because of the mess the last two Governors made. Two Governors + One Mike Madigan.

Pat Quin believed all that BS they taught about civics in 3rd grade and lived by it. Finally became guv because the system actually does work sometimes.

This place makes Kansas look like Cambodia.
