WTF is Temple Grandin and You Don't Know Jack?

Bunnyhat: WTF is Temple Grandin and You Don't Know Jack?

You sound like you don't have HBO.

You should find a copy of Temple Grandin. It was good. YDKJ was decent, too.

Director of Vancouver Olympics Opening Ceremony: Bucky Gunts

Damn fine name sir.

Modern Family is the most grating, awful garbage I have ever witnessed. It was always on whenever I needed to go to the laundromat. I thank god I have a washer/dryer now.

Ricky Gervais presented that award and boy did he have fun with that one.

Edie Falco got an award because the voters were afraid she'd sic Tony Soprano on them if she didn't.

Bunnyhat: WTF is Temple Grandin

You need to read actual news that is not posted to fark.com.

Aww, why the Nurse Jackie hate? Who doesn't like shows about addicts?

2010-08-30 02:03:19 AM
Very happy about the Aaron Paul win. I can't wait until next July!

2010-08-30 02:36:47 AM
My only real complaint - how the fark does Jon Hamm not win? I know Bryan Cranston is amazing, but did the voters just not watch The Gypsy and the Hobo?

2010-08-30 03:52:19 AM
And the Daily Show won yet again. Between TDS and Colbert, Comedy Central has inexplicably become the Pixar of the variety comedy series.

2010-08-30 04:57:00 AM
Edie Falco in "Nurse Jackie" is my favorite character on TV. It's the only reason I watched TV for most of the spring. Showtime is awesome, but the rest of TV can suck it.

2010-08-30 04:58:34 AM
Mostly good winners, but I was hoping for a third-in-a-row NPH win:

Why? NEIL HAT-TRICK HARRIS.

Jim Parsons' in-character reaction to the statue having been
touched by so many people prior to presentation.

/Well deserved win for Mr. Parsons

Thank you, Fark - makes my studying for pub trivia tonight much easier.

DamnYankees: My only real complaint - how the fark does Jon Hamm not win? I know Bryan Cranston is amazing, but did the voters just not watch The Gypsy and the Hobo?

Cranston has been on TV (and awesome) for twenty years now, so it's only fair that he won. Hamm is at least a decade younger and will get his chance in the future.

I can't believe people still watch award shows... What do you all find so interesting about the media giving "awards" to their own employees? It's like watching a McDonald's Manager hand out the employee of the month award. Fun.

2010-08-30 06:42:00 AM
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are all better comedy choices than Edie Falco.

ju66l3r: You sound like you don't have HBO.

Thank Deity!

moothemagiccow: Modern Family is the most grating, awful garbage I have ever witnessed.

Agreed. I can't see it winning over 30 Rock or The Office.

I love the fact they give awards for other award shows.

He did win. Guest star in a comedy series.

Lost lost all the categories it was nominated in? Don't you always get one during a series ending season?

Not if nobody understood the show.

Also, and I 'll just go ahead and say this, breaking bad is a far superior show to Mad Men. I like Mad Men and all, but it's just not at the level of art that breaking bad is. And, considering that the whole of BB is pretty much carried by two actors, I honestly just don't see how you can't just give them the awards (forever or until the show ends).

2010-08-30 08:14:39 AM
"...full list..." Not even close to being a full list.

2010-08-30 08:34:53 AM
Nurse Jackie makes Nancy Botwin look grounded and in control. Jackie is not redeeming in any way, shape, or form. The show is not funny. And I found no reason to root for any of the characters in the show.

/My opinion
//Watched the first season
///I don't care if you loved it

Leather!: Modern Family is not funny

Its fark'n hilarious.

Well, it'll be interesting watching the back and forth between Jon and Steven tonight.

2010-08-30 08:48:00 AM
When these are the people and shows that win Emmys, it really doesn't say much for the overall quality of today's (American) television programming.

2010-08-30 08:48:27 AM
Nurse Jackie is satisfactory.
Your opinions are irrelevant.

end of line.

Bunnyhat: WTF is Temple Grandin and You Don't Know Jack?

Given the number of major awards 'Temple Grandin' actually won, that's a fair question, since not all of us have cable.

/looking over list of nominees and winners, there's not a chance in hell that 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand' and 'The Boondocks' will be honored next year.

Well, if you don't have cable (or even more likely, premium cable), then I guess you should just ignore the mini-series and original film awards, because the premium cable channels are about the only ones that make quality ones anymore.

/well, and Masterpiece Theatre gets in there too.

I'm damn near shocked at all of the hate for Modern Family here on Fark.

Uncle Pooky: I'm damn near shocked at all of the hate for Modern Family here on Fark.

Same here. I get at least one legitimately good laugh out of every episode. Well written, well acted and a great cast all around. Of course Fark hates it. They dont even own tvs

I've seen both Temple Grandin and You Don't Know Jack. Both were good, but Temple Grandin was better. Claire Danes really committed (she went full ret...er.. autistic).

Pacino actually ACTED(for the first time in many years) as Kevorkian. I like an understated Pacino.

TG seemed more like an inspirational story of a real woman, YDKJ was VERY Kevorkian-biased, and it worked, because the man had a huge bias against him(from me) going into it.

Check them out. Better than most of the crap that's been in theaters lately.

Aww. You know it's gonna be funny when it happens. Jon is one of the best in the world at rubbing something in without acting like a d-bag. And well, Steven is one of the best in the world and doing anything and coming off like a d-bag. Should be fun.

So am I correct in thinking The Office AND 30 Rock failed to win any Emmys?

Hey, that Jeff Zucker is brilliant!

30 Rock deserves the hate. They took a funny quirky show and turned it into a mess of phoned-in catch-phrases.

/I used to love 30 Rock so much I wanted to take out back of the middle school and get it pregnant

They consider both NJ and US of Tara as "Comedies" (albeit very dark), I think partially because of a bias of being a half hour show. Seriously, I think the academy doesn't believe you can have a half hour drama.

I'm only on season 2, but I love it so far.

Dwight_Yeast: Cranston has been on TV (and awesome) for twenty years now, so it's only fair that he won. Hamm is at least a decade younger and will get his chance in the future.

Yeah, but Cranston won last year and the year before, both for Breaking Bad as well. WTF does Hugh Laurie have to do to get some love around here? Nominated 5 times in 6 years for the same show, and no love. He's lost the award to James Spader twice and Brian Cranston 3 times.

Yes, and no immediate comment on the Glenn Beck's "I Have a Scheme" rally. Hopefully they will be around when Beck follows in Dr. Kings footsteps to that motel balcony in Memphis.

Was I the only person on earth who watched Curb Your Enthusiasm last season? Larry David is getting zero credit for what was easily the funniest season of television since Seinfeld.

If you haven't seen it, go Netflix the season.

You guys are missing the most important point related to last night's Emmy awards.

Sofia Vergara promised that she'd run naked down some hollywood street if Modern Family won the best comedy Emmy.

God I hope someone captures that on film

"Modern Family" is actually a pretty funny show.

John Lithgow had already won for playing Arthur on Dexter, so I really didn't care about last night too much

This. I wouldn't say it sucked, but it was a very poor successor to Band of Brothers.
