Well, yes, but the Government of Pakistan is corrupt and incompetent, so you won't get the quick, efficient clean-up that you saw after Katrina.

Ah yes, reminds me of the St Elizabeth's Flood of 1421! One of the worst floods ever to hit Holland.

Or, y'know, pretty much any other flood.

to say nothing of destabilizing a nuke armed nation.

Careful, someone might get "life evolves in pakistan" greenlit now, given that month-old stories are only now getting a greenlight. Yet we get seventeen stories a day about birfers. Go figure.

TFA is about the evacuation. The flooding they're evacuating from happened a month ago. But yeah, given your slashie, I expected no less than complete and utter ignorance

Are you saying the waters have receded? I'm a bit puzzled. Do you have a link on the current state of play?

Unlike the "familiar" reference.

And where are all of the photos of people stealing cases of Heineken and 52" Plasma TVs?

No, the waters haven't receded, in fact, it's looking like the town in question is going to be part of the Indus river for quite a while. TFA's headline should be more along the lines of "troubles while continuing to evacuate the lake that was the Indus river". The town that MIGHT get saved is Hyderabad at this point, Sujawal and Thatta are goners. Think of it this way, in American terms, if the Mississippi was flooding, this would be like an article about a Vicksburg evacuation when New Orleans desperately needs sandbags, all of this happening while the headlines were about another political scandal in Russia. To put it bluntly, yesterday's headlines were about the Glenn Beck wankfest during the time when another million people's homes were basically written off. Way to go, American Media!

Maybe the nukes and Talibans will drown. In the meantime, send them a million or two in aid since that's what they sent for Katrina.
