I don't think MLK is considered a Conservative by today's standards. Also, people tend to gloss over the fact that he was *Reverend* Dr. Martin Luther King, his very name that of an incredibly influential German Christian Revolutionary.

King most certainly did bring God into the public forum and made him part of the cause, I just don't think too many people these days give much credence to that fact.

Wow, do you have a mixed up and incorrect view of history. You would have done well to listen to the speeches. The American experiment didn't begin as a way to keep god out of the public forum because regardless of any out of context snippet, they were all deists ranging from moderately devout to very devout. It was to allow God in the public forum, by all of his names, a fact that can be demonstrated by reading any and all of their speeches and noting the number of times "God" is invoked.
Abraham Lincoln credits his decision to emancipate to The bible. Fredrick Douglas drew strength and patience from his faith, and, Dr. Martin Luther King invoked God in the name of non-violent protest. But yea, it's gotten us nothing but bad things. Greedy men with bad agenda's couldn't have anything to do with it, nope.
