submitter: Last night on The Daily Show, Mayor Bloomberg gave the most sane, logical view on the mosque controversy that you will never hear on any other news channel or program.

There we go.

Saw the clip last night and after he was done with the answer I thought "Well there's a reasonable and intelligent person expressing his opinion in a logical and concise manner. He wouldn't last a minute on Fox News"

Most likely since the FNC talking heads would shout over him and wouldn't let him speak.

Wow. I do not live in New York, I do not know a lot about this man and he could be playing to the audience he had there but that is the kind of stable, sane, intelligent discussion that this country needs. If that's the way he handles all his affairs I just might vote for him given the chance.

jchic: I just might vote for him given the chance.

I would vote for him.

jchic: If that's the way he handles all his affairs I just might vote for him given the chance.

He's a billionaire, sane, Jew. He has about as much chance as becoming president as I do. Though, I'd vote for him in a New York minute, even if he did change the voting laws so he could stick around. He's Fiorello La Guardia Part II

I will now be verbally decimated by New Yorkers.

Those who want to build an in-your-face mosque at Ground Zero have the constitutional right to do so. Those who don't like having an in-your-face mosque built at Ground Zero have the constitutional right to denounce it. That's not the point.

Bloomberg is taking sides on the issue. He refuses to criticize the placement of the mosque or to question the motives of those who want to put it there, while at the same time, he denounces those who are critical of locating the mosque at that site, and he questions their motives.

So while pretending that he is merely supporting the constitution, he clearly favors building the in-your-face mosque at Ground Zero. That's why people in NY are upset with him.

"In-your-face mosque"

Why's it in your face? I'm sorry, is there some kind of connection between the people building and/or using this muslim community center and the brainwashed, delusional jackasses who brought down several nearby buildings?

"19 PROTESTANTS BRING DOWN MUSEUM"

ten years later,

"Baptist church announces development of community center near Kensington museum memorial"

On Fox:

"INSENSITIVE BAPTISTS ATTEMPT TO BUILD COMMUNITY CENTER NEAR SITE OF CHRISTIAN MASSACRE- ARE THEY CONNECTED TO INTERNATIONAL TERRORISTS? THEY'RE NOT RETURNING OUR ANGRY, ACCUSATORY PHONE CALLS! MORE JUST ASKING QUESTIONS AT 11:00 9:00 24 HOURS A DAY, EVERY SHOW WE AIR, UNTIL YOU'RE ALL TERRIFIED"

Bloomberg says the 1st amendment gives us the right to say whatever we want whenever we want wherever we want.

The guy is overstating this. Don't believe it? Say hi to Jack in an airplane really loud and see what happens.

The mosque should be moved to appease the sensitivities of the American public.

I'm fairly confident at this point that SkinnyHead is a lib writing for exactly that purpose, to write such horribly idiotic argument with logical holes you can drive a truck through, so someone can come in and strike them down.

I mean, it's that or whoever is writing it manages to leave argument you can drive a truck through every single time and is completely contradictory with his own logic. Not impossible given the idiocy it spouts, but I like to think people really aren't that stupid when I know better.

I'm sorry, but how many Americans died on 9/11? If it is built, it will be a trophy for the radical islamists that want to: 1. Kill Americans, 2. Drive Israel into the sea.

Might as well be built by OBL and Hamas.

To the libtards here on the board, why not move it?

See my response to skinnydick above. These people had nothing to do with 9/11, and don't practice the same sect of islam at all. "A trophy"? What a sad, dark world you live in.

Why not move it? Well, if they did that, the domestic terrorists have truly won, asshole.

If it isn't built, it's justification for the islamists who want to 1) Kill Americans, and 2) Drive israel into oblivion (they wouldn't be happy with mere drowning).

But here's the kicker- why should we care what they justify themselves with? You're seeking to appease terrorists? Really? Fark you.

Why? Because I think the mosque should be moved? Or because I realize this pisses off a bunch of people and I think they shouldn't have to bear the memory of their loved ones being martyred.

You see, you are being played for a fool by supporting this. If you wish to be a fool, maintain your position. Otherwise, tell me why it shouldn't be moved.

Cities zone businesses and tell them where they can build everyday. Move the mosque and it is over. This is not a constitutional issue no matter how much the commie leftist try to box it in there.

All conservatives support appeasing weak, bleeding-heart sensitive folks as long as it's at the expense of something they consider "unamerican".

As a NY resident who works next to the WTC: thanks for thinking of us but we're better then the frothing racist pansies FNC and the GOP would like you to believe. We're very largely fine with it being built here.

You see, you are being played for a fool by supporting this. If you wish to be a fool, maintain your position. Otherwise, tell me why it shouldn't be moved.

We support the legal rights of people here and don't judge them based on their religion. Sorry if, to you, that means we're being fooled. And don't kid yourself: This isn't "sacred ground". No one cares about the strip joints or anything else here. "Sacred ground", used in this context, is the pussy way of saying "Anti-muslim ground"

Cities zone businesses and tell them where they can build everyday. Move the mosque and it is over. This is not a constitutional issue no matter how much the commie leftist try to box it in there.

They base zoning regs on the law, not on bigotry. But as a sounthern man dun wrong it may be different by you.

We really appreciate that, as NYC residents, or "liberal elitists", you "real americans" (who wine like assholes about us trying to impose our will on you) are so passionate about banning muslim buildings from our city and legislating based on religion. But please feel free to take your backwards, jackass world view and shove it straight up your ass.

If the mosque were a bus, do you know how many people it would seat? 3019 - 19 pilots and 3000 dead Americans in the ash tray.

I see that you have played your race card too. Oppose the mosque and you are a racist. Please observe that I do not care if it is built, just not where people died (the first martyrs of the new war on terrorism).

Yep - way to debate your position there sparky.

Death is the criteria? It wss damaged by debris, correct? Ergo - it should be bulldozed and a memorial should be put up instead. Or at least a model of a hand flipping the bird to the radical islamics that want to kill us (you know, like the pictures that were floating around when the WTC was being proposed to be rebuilt). It is interesting to see how much of a pansy the left has become after electing Baraq Hussein 0bama as POTUS.

I'm not American, but this sport is so much fun to watch. Conservatives insisting on 'sensitivity' and 'empathy', liberals telling them to 'man up', followed by conservatives simultaneously complaining about liberals being spineless while they 'shove this down their throats'.
