(Contact Music)   Bay City Rollers frontman Les McKeown wants the group to reunite. That seems like a lot of work to get people together to sing just one song   ( contactmusic.com) divider line

This does not need to happen.

There have got to be 10s of people waiting for this reunion show. I bet they could even fill an entire garage.

I read an article about the organizer of their fan club, the Teen Tartan Tarts, a few years back. Far more interesting than the band, actually.

"Because you know what hell is, folks? It's Andy Gibb...singing 'Shadow Dancing' for EONS and EONS, and you have wear big orange-plaid bell bottoms and sit next to the Bay City Rollers! 'How you doin'?' THIS IS GONNA SUCK!!!"

i can think of two: rock 'n' roll love letter and saturday night.

i'm sorry - i just threw up in my mouth a little.

Hey, I had at least two of there albums when I was a kid. I will never apologize for my love of Bubblegum Pop and awkwardly fitting knicker bellbottom jumpsuits trimmed in plaid.

I am embarrassed to say I used to have pictures of those plaid clad fools all over my bedroom wall as a teenager.

Subby is a young'n, I guess. The Bay City Rollers were -huge- back in the day. It would not suprise me one bit if they did well on a reunion tour playing to venues filled with middle aged women.

Yeah, New Kids on the Block did a reunion tour recently and IIRC they did pretty well, too. If you were in a boy band back in the day and you need money, a reunion tour is pretty much guaranteed cash.

What night should we do this?

2010-08-24 01:02:58 PM
They should get back together and have a concert...this SATURDAY NIGHT!!!

I'd rather go see Johnny Rivers. Is he still touring?

I remember them. They were the "New Beatles". Except for the whole talent/charisma/personality thing.

I'll fess up. I own ONE album. The one they released after this guy left the band. It was called "Elevator" (the band, just The Rollers). It's not a bad album, really. Some drug references in the lyrics, a little bit of power pop...exactly what the little girls didn't want. Needless to say it didn't sell.

Saturday Night was one of my first 45's. I don't even remember what was on the B side.

Anyway, no this reunion absolutely does not need to happen.

"Come on Eileen" was alright, but I really couldn't get into the whole shirtless overalls thing.

They also had their Jonas Bros-size moment.

I sat out on the a-ha farewell tour, I can sit out on this.

I want to hear their music again, that's what YouTube is for.

My little sister, who has craptacular taste in music, LOVED these dolts. I hated them back then and today I cringe from the fact that I even know who they were/are.

Wow, I think my first crush ever was on Eric Faulkner. I didn't click on the link because I was afraid it would show a picture of him now, which would almost certainly be a disappointment (my best friend had it bad for Leif Garrett, and seeing him now makes me think of that pic of a little cat that goes, "I barfed"...)

Also, they did a (so so bad) song called Dedication that I listened to a gazillion times, back in the day. Danced with Ron Bacardi a week or so ago and found Dedication on Youtube, and I thought it would be cool to listen to it (I thought wrong... just way wrong.)

Thanks for sharing the pic! I like him better with long hair than the Curly Howard look he had some years back.

I had more of a thing for Ian Mitchell back in the day, though.

OK, yeah, it was a hand-me-down.

"Dude, that's from memory of the Bay City Rollers 8-track I used to have as a kid."

I envy you - I just had it on vinyl. Still do somewhere in my garage.

It's still available on CD in Japan - last time I checked, anyway. I find their version of "Rebel Rebel" to be okay, but I like the slow romantic tracks so much better.
