I'm glad they're getting another dangerous criminal off the streets. Good for you, New Jersey.

Pagan admitted using her position to access court computer records and dismiss 215 tickets received by her and her daughter. The tickets were worth about $5,000 in fines.

And her 3 years in prison will cost the state how much?

The best thing about the article is all the Jersey residents commenting that they don't seem to think this is a crime.

JerseyTim: That's the face of pure evil.

Yupp! It's what bicycle and canoes are to BP. Ugly, and the eye-of-the-beholder card is invalid.

Four municipal judges also were implicated in the ticket scandal.

But they won't get any prison time 'cause they're judges, and this silly bint was just a lowly clerk.

2010-08-20 06:38:03 PM
Well, corruption is worse than negligence.

How many times do you have to park illegally to even get 200 tickets? Like every single day?

/does not live downtown

really 5000 dollars is worth 3 years in prison? that doesn't seem right. don't get me wrong, she's a total biatch but 3 years?

2010-08-20 06:40:51 PM
She was always parking in the handicap spaces, while handicap people made handicap faces. She's an *sshole

2010-08-20 06:44:33 PM
I'm pretty sure she will be out in less than a few months. You gotta understand that a 3 year sentence isn't really 3 years.

She will be out on the street again in 3 months for all of you that were looking for a date. She's available too!

What the hell are the perks of the job then if you cant fix your tickets. Damn.

2010-08-20 06:46:02 PM
that seems like a harsh punishment for fixing tickers

Being able to sit on your ass and do virtually nothing and get paid for it?

"Four municipal judges also were implicated in the ticket scandal."

That..actually seems quite a bit more important. But a hispanic female clerk is MUCH easier to get fired..

Jersey City - the state capital of corrupt Democrats since the 19th century. Lousy thieves.

2010-08-20 07:04:07 PM
Just came in to say: 3 years??!! Wtf? Well not surprising that we send a wayyy higher percentage of our own people to prison than any other first world nation. Land of the free my ass

The reason why she got the book thrown at her is because she abused her position.

The same thing happened to a government worker in Trenton who was stealing gas.

I don't agree with it, but I think it's also a product of people getting bad lawyers or who have no idea how the plea bargaining system works.

Of course, they say "three years", but I don't think she'll be serving all of that because it's a non violent offense. It's to send a message.

2010-08-20 07:11:33 PM
She'll be OK.

She now has a new bullet point on her resume for when she runs for a political office.

You would be out in less for killing someone, in England.

For 215 offenses? That's about five days apiece.

I think the monetary cost can be overlooked in order to make an example out of a corrupt court official...

Professional courtesy did not apply to court administrators?

I agree. We can absolutely afford to destroy someones life over minor bs in order to frighten the rest of the populace into staying in line

Let's sing the national anthem together.

I'm shocked that's even illegal in New Jersey.

She was caught with 215 tickets, $5,000 sounds really low if you add in late fees. Even so, I'm guessing it goes way beyond that. If she fixed those for herself, she could have easily fixed thousands of tickets and kept the money.

2010-08-20 07:57:14 PM
3 years to pay them...

2010-08-20 08:14:21 PM
If I ever have a job like that, I'll dismiss/delete EVERYONE'S farking traffic tickets right before I quit and hop on a plane to Canada.

I'm effing sick of all these stupid little Prius "Parking Enforcement" cars just stopping in the middle of a busy street, completely blocking a lane, and backing up traffic for blocks just so the little wannabe-cop inside can jump out and write some guy a $10 ticket for letting the meter expire.

Where do you come from where illegally altering legal documents to absolve yourself of a crime is "minor bs?" That sounds pretty FSM serious to me.

Well, that's what she gets for not being a celebrity, or at least not being really rich.

Di Atribe: I'm glad they're getting another dangerous criminal off the streets. Good for you, New Jersey.

Then start with the current governor and his supporters. He's quite the thug-in-chief.

Remote Kittens: I'm shocked that's even illegal in New Jersey.

That's exactly what I came here to say.

Stupid Pagans. No CHRISTIAN woman would have done such a thing...

This is an OUTRAGE, except that it happened in NJ. So it is really pretty much par for the course. Ask her to step aside and give her sister the job.

No big deal.

They arested me in Bayonne when I was paying tickets (on my Birthday!). The wonderful woman said I owed on a different plate. Told her I have acheck made out for the amount that was sent registered mail. Didn't matter. Guess what? She was arrested for the same thing 3 monthe later. PRINSON TIME BABY!

Jersey City is a cesspool. There are a few nice neighborhoods with a very short commute to Manhattan. But the taxes are very high there because those are the people who support the rest of the city's derelicts and the bloated government that administers them.

This particular lady was probably a rude cnut to those wealthy residents who actually paid their tickets, and her salary.

So glad I didn't buy there. Ditto Hoboken (same socioeconomic paradigm).

whoa. The wife and I are on our third property in Hoboken and have made $ everytime.

How was Maiden, btw?

Don't forget that the people who live in the nice neighborhoods (Hamilton Park, etc.) are ALSO subsidizing the people who live in the luxury waterfront high-rises, because the city handed out PILT (payment in lieu of taxes) deals to developers like candy, for more than a decade after such such incentives were necessary to spur development.
