So all they have to do is swap plates again and police won't be able to ID it?

Of course not. Why would anyone ever want to steal an armored vehicle full of weapons and para-military equipment?

What kind of whimpy town do you live in when the SWAT vehicle is a green 2005 Chrysler minivan? What is this, England?

Subby lied. Big difference between a SWAT van and a mini-van. Made me read where I would have otherwise passed.

Wondering that, too.

If this was the sheriff Joseph of Arpaio he would probably then have the person who has this SWAT vehicle sent to the deportation chamber while the sheriff does the teetee touching while watching men in pink.

I did not read the article, however I still stand by my suspected criminal.

You have truly suffered a grave injustice.

Let's put it this way; now, you can tell your mates at the bar this weekend, "guess what guys, I read that a minivan was stolen in Indiana this week". You'll have everyone's attention, I guarantee it.

I say we take a switch to Subby for fibbing. Back in the day, mom enjoyed doing so. I think I would in this instance.

It's a (mini-)van with SWAT gear, so subby's technically correct.

/I'm sure nobody's gonna be allowed to take it home to impress dates any more anyway.

Meh... nothing like the real shiatstorm going on in Indy today. Cop, on duty responding to a call crashed into motorcycles stopped at a red light. One dead, two critical. They finally got around to drawing blood and the cop had a blood alcohol of .19!

Fast forward to today: All the alcohol charges were dropped because IMPD farked up the investigation, didn't do a proper blood draw and now all that evidence is inadmissible! Cop gets his driver's license back, too. Oh yeah, the dead guy is still dead and the other two are mending, but the money they can get even if they win their suit against the city is less than what will be needed for the medical bills and rehab.

Yeah, cops really investigate themselves well, don't they? Oh, the Chief and Public Safety Chief (oxymoron), have called in the FBI, but the cow already shiat and left the barn.

I'm not even a gun-nut, I'm more of an outdoors kinda guy but I would give my left right nut for the contents of a fully loaded SWAT van.

Detectives believe the van might have an Indiana In God We Trust license plate number TO4640 since there was a reported theft of a license plate from another vehicle in the same neighborhood.

This thief isn't too bright, is he?

Ramon, they've made something called "Red Dead Redemption" and it sucks. I've killed over 300 criminals and there is still no story. Nothing. That's right.

That's a sweet pic they included in the article. Very pertinent as the actual "swat" van didn't even have police lights on it.

I thought I heard something the other night on the radio. I usually tune out when the dispatchers start talking about stolen cars, but then I heard "SWAT vehicle" and "containing body armor, weapons, flashbangs," and a long inventory of all the stuff that disappeared with it. Never heard another broadcast about it, was wondering what happened.

"BREAKING NEWS! Two teenagers were found today throwing flashbang grenades at each other, while wearing an assortment of body armor. Other teens nearby were seen riding a remotely-operated bomb removal robot, while using the camera to film their buddies firing breaching shotguns at a badly damaged SWAT van."

I can't even imagine the ration of shiat this officer is gonna catch for the rest of his career.

FTA: Luckily, police say, the van was not equipped with emergency lights so it is unlikely the suspect will be able to impersonate a police officer.

Luckily? I'd say it would be easier to spot the van careening through town, lights flashing, drunk teenagers behind the wheel.

Really, Mr. Reporter? A Town and COUNTY minivan? Were they two different vans, or did you just let your spellchecker do your job for you?
