What really ticked me off was the code in Stinger, (which was infinitely cooler than Contra). The exact reverse. So after a year of playing contra, it was a real pain to enter.

ALL HAIL KONAMI!!! You never see Square-Enix doing this type of stuff, do you?

Speaking of Konami, anyone see the new Castlevania game? ^_^ Bliss...

Damn, there's always a bunch of idiots posting how they think the Contra code should be and blah blah blah. The headline submitter got it right. Deal with it.

I'm SO GLAD that the headline poster got the damn code right! I can't tell you how many people I've run into who say that the code has a SELECT in it. It doesn't!!

I think I only used it on 2 games, neither of them contra, both of them later finishing without the code, Lifeforce and TMNT:The Arcade Game (not an arcade game) =P

I get a bad feeling about this. Konami is responsible for producing some absolute classic games. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is probably my favorite platformer game of all time. It's just worrisome that they're expanding into this area of business, because a lot of times when companies try to do too many different kinds of things, and produce radically different products, they tend to stretch themselves too thin. Then one day they find themselves bankrupt. Oh well, if they tank there's still one thing that will never die:

why don't they make cell phones with remote admin capabilities for home computers?

Why do I need to be able to run my remote control cars with my cell??

What the hell is the point??

Yes. Symphony of the Night rules. But don't worry. Konami already does a ton of different stuff. Consider Konami Sports Clubs, for a random example. It's not in English, but just click around.

Konami also makes really cool miniature tanks with working, infrared-firing turrets. Slightly pricey, though. Check it out:

D'oh!

try:

or just goto kidrobot and click 'browse by manufacturer', then Konami.

Am I the only person who finds it amusing that the aforementioned Cookie's last name is Fortune?

2003-06-11 03:09:37 PM
I think konami changed the code for diff games a few times...I have operation C (gameboy) and it is :U,U,D,D,L,R,L,R,B,A,B,A,select, start in that game, there are varients on it, make people think a little, or they just messed up on some games
^_^

2003-06-11 03:14:33 PM
That code also worked in the second Contra I believe. It only gave you ten lives instead of thirty, which still pisses me off.

2003-06-11 03:16:53 PM

All must bow down before mighty Hideo!

2003-06-11 03:17:25 PM
in operation C, you got level select, but only up to level 4 (there were more that 4 though)

InternetSecurityGuard, given that the infra-red interface on Palms is infamous for having a range of about a half inch, i'd have to ask you to back that up with video ;)

Now if only someone could point me towards a way to program my own fully fledged polyphonic tones. There's some cool ones out there on the websites, but of course they're all just slightly flawed for legal reasons... and there's a number of even better tunes I'd like to put in (for uniqueness and kudos' sake) which simply don't seem to exist in interland. Some never *ever* will, least not til i make em.

2003-06-11 07:07:07 PM
Yeah the palm ir range is a joke but if you read his post again you will notice it was not a palm, rather it was a qualcom pda/phone. Im willing to bet it has a better range than my palm. How could it not.

The nice part about the cheat code for Contra is that after playing so many farking times with 30 guys, I could beat it with 1 guy and didn't need the code anymore. My official calling card to NES geekdom is the fact that I used to use a game of Contra specifically as a time waster: 22 minutes, as
long as I didn't slip and lose the rapidfire spread gun. I was playing it on a tiny black & white TV on the day of the Loma Prieta earthquake, before I finished and saw all the freeway carnage on the news.
