I am amused by the fact that there are people he still "hates" in Cleveland from when he was growing up, simply because they were from Cleveland, but says that Gilbert's ad/letter showed the owners true character. I think holding a decade long grudge against people who were children shows James' character also.

2010-08-17 01:19:16 PM
I honestly think someone close to him suddenly changed and began manipulating him when they realized he was going to be signing a brand new, huge, contract.

He's suddenly doing everything with the amount of planning that would make Bush blush.

My mother always told me: 'You will see the light of people when they hit adversity. You'll get a good sense of their character.'

Yeah Lebron, I saw Games 5 and 6 of the Boston series, so you might want to keep that one to yourself.

I'm fairly certain it reflects on how much of a child's mentality James lives his life by. He is extremely immature.

He is a great basketball player though.

Meh, Cleveland.com had a different take on some of the comments. Here is my favorite.

"I've never been standing around," he says. "That's not me. Even if I tried, I couldn't do it . . . "I love our fans. Cleveland fans are awesome. But I mean, even my family gets spoiled at times watching me doing things that I do, on and off the court."
Spoiled people-he doesn't understand them. He was raised to suck it up, do without, be quiet about disappointment. "That's what keeps me humble, because I know my background, know what my mother went through. I never get too high on my stardom or what I can do.

Yeah, We are spoiled by his greatness and he is Humble. Dude you play a game. We thought you were great because you were going to turn around a franchise. We were wrong. You still believe it.

Really? A Siberian Tiger?

It would suck to be raped by a bear, an elephant, or most other animals certainly but I would almost consider it an honor to be sexually assaulted by a species so diminished in number outside of captivity.

Why do you assume this isn't LeBron being LeBron? He's shown plenty of flashes of being this immature and out of touch with reality before the Decision went down ("I can't be a sore loser because I'm a winner," yelling at his mom in the middle of a game, etc.). This sounds more like people no longer protecting what is written about LeBron.

The guy refers to himself in third person and seemed to believe that most Cavs fans would just follow him to the Heat. He even seems to believe that just staying close with your hometown and high school keeps you grounded. It reeks of someone who just lost the protection that build his image.

Yeah, right back atacha, slick. Despite you still holding a childhood grudge against Cleveland, that city has given you EVERYTHING. You'll never have anything like that ever again.

...

What, Lebron isn't going to read this so I should stop pretending that he is? Oh, ok.

Are you kidding? Not only is he reading this, he's taking mental notes about how you're disparaging him so that he may exact his revenge by personally showing up to wherever you play pick-up basketball and dunking on your head.

But he will not exact his revenge by challenging you to a three-point shooting contest. Not because he would lose or anything, just because dunking on you while referencing your posts on fark.com is greater proof of his absolute dominance.

This is what's lost on most people. LeBron didn't ask to be born in Akron. He didn't ask the NBA to allow the Cavaliers to win the draft lottery.

He was sublimely talented player who happened to be drafted by the local team, and thus had to bear the burden of the fans' hopes and dreams.

Sorry he didn't want the same thing you did, Clevelanders.

Bullshiat, manageable enough to put himself with guys who are just good enough to make it past the east finals. If his ego and immaturity were truly in check and ALL he cared about was a championship, he'd take the league minimum and go to the Lakers or Boston.

Not since Dustin Pedroia called his hometown a shiathole has anyone been as right as Lebron was in that article. Cleveland fans are jerks. They're like Philly fans without the endearing qualities. Additionally, I'm glad I will be able to turn on ESPN next year without hearing the seismic rumbles of the Cleveland PA playing "BOOM BOOM DEFENSE". Way to cover your lack of crowd noise, Cavs.

Well, in that case, Cleveland fans shouldn't be mad about that at all.

So - Looking at the 2003 draft we have:
(note, just observations, not my opinion)

1) LaBron - ego-maniacal jerk who destroyed a city, speaks in the 3rd person and stole Penny Hardaway's puppet commercial ideas - no longer with original team

2) Darko - never hurt anyone, Detroit won a championship - generally useless - no longer with original team

3) Carmelo - doesn't like snitches, likes girls named LaLa - doesn't play D, has led a team at the collegiate level to a championship - is not cool enough to be on the Miami LaBrons but wants to be relevant this off-season and will probably leave Denver, but if anyone leaks this info they should watch-out because he doesn't like snitches - most likely leaving original team

4) Bosh - Luckiest guy in the NBA - paid like he is one of the best - gets to be the clown on the Miami LaBrons - can play like the third option despite a max contract and no one will care - plus he has that hair thing going on - no longer on original team

5) Wade - Slept with Star Jones, Wife claimed he gave her VD - orchestrated the creation of the new Miami LaBrons - one a championship with a borrowed Shaq - still on original team

6) Kaman - not only does he have horrible Hulk Hogan hair - he broke Clippers hearts by looking like he might be good, but turning into a Mandrich - until last season - wild card with bad hair - still on original team (I think)

7) Hinrich - Got biatched slapped by Rondo - from there Rondo became a star - Heinrich remained just above average for a guy that looks like a troll doll - no longer on original team

8)Ford - Broken - not with original team

and so on

Not really, Cleveland fans would've still called him spoiled and hated him. They would still say that he abandoned them after "all they did for him", whatever that was. The rest of the country might have not come to view him as a self-aggrandizing douchebag or misled by his posse/managers, but Cleveland would've still acted the same.

Cleveland kids from the big city (he's obviously some country bumpkin) made fun of me and now I hold a lifelong grudge against an inanimate city full of people that may or may not have hurt my feelings.
