When the crowd would scream, "Freebird!!!" at my friends' cover band, the guitarist would flip them the bird and say, "This one doesn't cost you a thing."
Classic

You know, for the rest of his life this guy's going to have the word 'yea' right over the crack of his ass.

Oh, and you got to love how the radio station threw in their logo to boot.

Yea, the radio station logo put in there was just horrible. What a dumb bastard to have the lyrics put on his back...but what a -dumber- bastard to let them put the station logo at the end.

Can someone explain to me, the freebird thing please? I've got a recording of Bill Hicks going off at someone for yelling out Freebird. What's freebird?

Freebird is one of the greatest songs ever written.
It was written by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Let the flames begin but I like Skynyrd.

Tiddalick:
Yelling, "Play Freebird!", to a band onstage is like saying, "You suck!".
It was such a widely covered song at one time, so I guess it's like saying to play something good instead of what you are currently playing.

coz
2001-10-14 09:47:12 AM
Skynrd had it's 15 min. time to let it go!

We used to yell "Freebird" at our beloved Homestead Grays way back in the late 80s, not because they sucked but because we were drunks. Then one night they played it ... and it rocked ... and now one of the Grays is in BR549.

The end.

I sincerely beg everyone's pardon, but apparantly I haven't made myself clear. The dude has the word 'yea' tattooed over the crack of his ass. YEA over the CRACK of his ASS.

I think George Micheal has 'yea' tattooed over the crack of his ass, too.

And yes, 'Freebird' is a lovely song, although I always liked 'I Know a Little 'bout Love' just a bit more. Something to move to while you're headed to the fridge for more beer.

(Great. Now everyone knows I a white male in my mid-thirties who lives in a trail.. er, mobile home.)

WTF is Freebird? WTF is I Know a Little 'bout Love?

I'm a white, middle thirties Feral Kiwi who has never heard of this shiat . . . and pretty much all the standard US/Euro music gets exported to this end of the world within a few weeks of being created/spawned/vomitted up.

Tattoos have a long history in this part of the world, but they are usually a lot more "artistic" than the lyrics to some crappy, now forgotten song.

Freedbird is a song that is used as an anthem by rednecks everywhere. The yokels see themselves as "freebirds" that no woman or any force on this earth can tame.

However, most of them work in a factory on the line doing the same thing everyday of their lives.

Those are some real freebirds huh?

People need to quit living vicariously through their heroes.

Dead heros at that.
