not very pretty pictures

2001-10-10 12:06:11 AM
okay.... if its Not safe for anyone. Seriously then why was it posted? Do you want us to look at it or not?

2001-10-10 12:06:59 AM
I believe you need to add an 'm' or maybe a 'ml' at the end for it to work.

Eeyew! As if I needed more reason why these bastards need to be burned alive. Somewhere on there they probably have that picture of the guy who was skinned and then had his skull smashed.

2001-10-10 12:19:57 AM
The pictures on this site are awesome. I don't know how ...

fark it, this makes me sick, I hope that I have the chance to put some lead in the head of just one of these people before I die

Holy shiat.

Sometimes you know something, but don't really know it. Like the fact that a lake is cold. And it's a fact, a given in your mind. You know that when you jump in that lake, that it's going to be cold, damned cold. And you tell yourself "Self, this is going to be cold".

And then you jump in, and reality sucker-punches you right where you thought you were safe.

2001-10-10 12:23:45 AM
wow.
And that is just the shiat that happened to be photographed.

2001-10-10 12:25:37 AM
Now contrast those images with the news footage you see of protesters saying we should be negotiating with these people instead of going to war.

2001-10-10 12:36:18 AM
That is rather disturbing.

The Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan

are heroic IMO.

I, for one, am going to sell their mag on my websites.

These ladies have got some serious King Kong size balls, fer sure.

2001-10-10 12:54:14 AM
Remember the Kitty video from Stile awhile back?
Seems rather trite that everyone had such a hissy
about that in comparison.

This is so sad, some of them burned themselves just
to escape from the world they live in.
No gun, no razor, burned.

2001-10-10 01:00:59 AM
That's some harsh life. I hope they get to exact some revenge when the taliban dicks are rounded up. The women should be allowed to dispatch them in any way they see fit.

3M TA3: the "Not safe for anyone. Seriously" label is to prevent folks from accidentally running into something too shocking or seriously offensive, like the cat-killing video or the Cutter Jim article posted a while back. It's a warning label.

It's a way of allowing diversity and freedom of speech on this site by allowing the individual farker to edit what he or she wants to see, rather than just pulling the article and denying access to all. I applaud it; some of the most interesting stuff on fark is behind those "not safe" links. Also, some of the most horrible.

Finding the right balance between freedom of speech and responsibility is always a problem in any publication. I think Mr. Curtis has worked out an excellent solution.

Ok, farkers, speech's over. Please resume gagging and wretching at RAWA's content.

2001-10-10 01:05:21 AM
Oh, and yes: the Taliban dictatorship sucks, and they have sucked for quite a while now. I thought we already knew that?

2001-10-10 01:06:40 AM
I wonder if they had handed over bin Laden immediatly, whould the USA still try to take out the Taliban or leave them alone?

2001-10-10 01:10:46 AM
As bad as it is to look at those photos, I can't imagine the enormity of how horrible it must have been to live through those scenes, especially the few torture victims that lived.

My discomfort means about farking shiat within that thought.

"Now contrast those images with the news footage you see of protesters saying we should be negotiating with these people instead of going to war."

Gee, how kind and considerate you are - and watch the propaganda juggernaut roll. Funny how nobody gave a damn about these crimes before america was bombed. If you're going to bomb them for revenge at least have the guts to admit it, and stop pretending it's for all these horrible things that we all conveniently overlooked just a couple of months ago.

2001-10-10 01:31:14 AM
Tiddalick:
Very true. We were "allies" with the Taliban until 9/10/01
in terms of their help with our lame-ass war on drugs.
Hopefully, a byproduct of our "revenge" will be restored human rights (relatively speaking) in Afghanistan.

2001-10-10 01:31:16 AM
Tiddalick:
It's real easy to act high and mighty, and make fun of people who have just found out how deadly their own ignorance can be. Just do not fool yourself into feeling superior while you have your fun. Had YOU been spending time before the eleventh trying to tell the public of these things?

2001-10-10 01:36:57 AM
Actually, Tiddalick, I've always hated the way most of those countries treat women. It's not just the taliban. Women have no rights, and are routinely beaten and killed.

Rape victims are considered "unclean" and killed (often after being raped again by the authorities), sometimes by their own families.

I'm sure most of us have heard of women having their genitals burned in order to prevent them getting pleasure from sex.

It's all pretty horrible, and as far as the "propaganda juggernaut" is concerned, I say whatever it takes to get them out of power is ok.

Can you imagine the international uproar if we'd attacked the taliban before Sept 11th? Man, we're even getting crap from people for going in now, but better late than never.

Congnitive loop: Taliban and U.S. (mid-east)
foreign policy.

2001-10-10 01:38:25 AM
B0rg is right. We must rescue the Afghanistani from the hell they inhabit. Once we have control of the situation we should send every willing Muslem scholor there to reconstruct the society.

As for the Taliban, I am reminded of an old pesticide commercial:

Fire ants
Nobody likes them
There are no plush fire and toys
All they do is bite you and make you want to cry
And, that is why . . they have to die
Not a slow, lingering death
But a quick, "see you in hell" kind of death

2001-10-10 01:41:49 AM
Cool. Let's give these chicks guns and drop 'em off wherever they want to go.

It is a wonderful site, and I commend the person who submitted it to FARK.

I am the one who posted this link- and I thought long and hard about it before I sent it. One one hand, it disturbed me, on the other- well lets show the world what these f***ers are capable of in the name of religion.

Judging by the feedback, it seemed like it was an appreciated link.

I had a college friend from Afghanistan back in 1983. His uncle was a high ranking official with the Afghan govt. at the time, I think maybe the ambassador to the U.S.

Anyway, the reason I bring this up is because Hamid would always say (especially after several shots of Jim Beam) how much he loved America. Even though he was perhaps more Americanized than most Afghanis, I still feel his appreciation for freedom was shared by other Afghan citizens.

He told me back then that there were fundamentalist movements going on in Afghanistan that would soon take over the country, and make it what it is today. He would say that he was glad he was over here in the US.

I knew nothing of this. But it's definitely ANOTHER reason we should be removing the Taliban from power. The only problem is, can we remove the Taliban AND convert the pro-Talibaners? It's usually the individuals whom support the Taliban that are doing these things to their own family....burning their wives' genitals, etc.

Usually I'd have something funny to say, but it's not the right place to do that.

Nor do I think it is proper at this moment to lay blame of any kind on anyone who stands against what are now witness to.

It comes down to this: It is wrong. We are there, and it won't last. That's all we can do now.

Hey Fusillade, glad to have some company. Just checked your profile - I do admin, too (ASP server farm).

Things get a bit quiet on Fark at night, huh?

2001-10-10 03:13:05 AM
I'm probably gonna get a lot of crap for saying this, but here goes:

Before anybody starts screaming for muslim blood over this one, a little historical perspective. This attitude towards women predates islam in the arab world. Islam was actually a big step forward for women when it was introduced. Islamic law gave women the right to own land, inherit property and actually forbade husbands from raping or abusing their wives. This at a time when christian women didn't have these rights. There are actually quite a number of politically powerful islamic ladies in the history books. How all this got screwed up and twisted in modern islamic society is beyond me.

EnemyFrank: Quiet, yeah. I usually wait patiently for the new articles to show up in the morning (I get off at 7:00am PST), but by that time I'm so brain dead after 12 hours of staring at a CRT that I can't think of anything clever to post.

2001-10-10 03:19:14 AM
Yeah, I get off at 8am EST. I just started doing nights a few weeks back. It beats the hell out of help desk.

I wish there were more folks on at night, though. It'd sure pass the time.

2001-10-10 03:23:17 AM
Working 12 hours sucks, I know. Luckily I only work 8 now unless things go horribly wrong. I wouldn't mind working 12's if I got paid hourly. Being salary can be a drag.

2001-10-10 03:27:58 AM
Good to know that the northern alliance only produced 150 tonnes of opium this year.

2001-10-10 03:28:46 AM
Well there has been a drought...

2001-10-10 03:32:36 AM
Dammit, that just makes my smack more expensive!

Working 12 hours (12.5 actually) isn't so bad in this case, cuz I only have to work 3 & 4 days a week, alternately. Does make it hard to go out after work, though. Hella tough to find a bar that's open at 7am...

2001-10-10 03:40:25 AM
Move to New Orleans. 24 hour drinking....

2001-10-10 03:44:31 AM
I've always wanted to visit New Orleans.

I don't start work 'til midnight, so I COULD have a drink or seven before I came in. Probably not a good idea, though.
