But how will crack head mothers support their children?

2010-08-11 08:24:14 PM
Yeah, I say we throw all of the state's crime-fighting resources at this. Because there isn't other crime going on there.

/St. Louis is in Mississippi, right?

2010-08-11 08:24:21 PM
Yeah, fight it then biatch when your daughters are one of the stippers at the club. That'll show them!

2010-08-11 08:25:26 PM
wat. jeebus this country puritanically retarded.

2010-08-11 08:25:37 PM
Still would not interfere with my ability to touch a stripper.

I hate it when they try to legislate morality.
I don't tell them how they should whack on their tambourine and speak in tongues.

2010-08-11 08:27:54 PM
From TFA:

The new law would require stores and clubs to close before midnight, ban full nudity and alcohol, and eliminate touching between semi-nude employees and customers.

This may be one of the saddest things I've ever read in my life. It's like all the good things in life being banned all at once.

2010-08-11 08:28:47 PM
I hosted a radio program called "Good Morning E. St. Louis".
It aired at 3 in the afternoon.

sec
2010-08-11 08:29:03 PM
And then when they're done with strippers, they go after the espresso stands with girls in one-piece swimsuits. It never ends.

2010-08-11 08:29:46 PM
These laws have not fared well in other states. States do have a lot of power to regulate alcohol any way they please but they're not free to make up local interpretations of the First Amendment.

"The law's supports argue that adult businesses contribute to seedy behavior, cause divorces and drive down property values".

Funny, I would've thought "unrealistic expectations" caused more divorces than adult businesses, but what do I know...

2010-08-11 08:31:45 PM
Yeah, but when East St. Louis laughs, it is a sneering, menacing laugh...

Not a ha-ha laugh as much as a "You gonna get raped" laugh. If there is such a thing.

2010-08-11 08:33:58 PM
Please please please let me be called for jury duty!

2010-08-11 08:35:02 PM
Then East Saint Louis pulls the drive by shooting because it is full of the thug gangstuhs and the poor people with status of being inferior.

2010-08-11 08:35:57 PM
The law's supports argue that adult businesses contribute to seedy behavior, cause divorces and drive down property values.

What in god's name is "SEEDY BEHAVIOR"????

And how can I get some?

Wait, I think I've heard that before. Yes, I have it:

"The law's supporters argue that adult businesses gay marriages contribute to seedy behavior, cause divorces and drive down property values".

"The law's supporters argue that adult businesses brown people contribute to seedy behavior, cause divorces and drive down property values".

I'm sure there's more.

I can't decide if I want to hear this in my head in Bill Cosby's voice, or attribute it to some engrish-style translation mishap.

Much obliged.

/Wound up drunk in an EStL strip club/brothel after a debauched night during a fraternity convention. Made it back to the hotel at 6:30 am.

i livein st louis,if missouri didnt havethese kind of laws, the east side would go broke in a month. wouldnt beany commerce east of the mississipi river. all those little towns would go broke immediatly and have to disband thier police forces.(like that would be a bad thing) dont really think it is right for a government to legislate morality, but around here, its kind of created a separate red light district unofficially. and im not kidding about those communities on the east side. without thier tax dollars, most of those communities would cease to exist.

Say what now? I can think of several towns that have no strippers at all. So no, there are not enough.

B...b...b..b.. Keep government out of business, right? What the small business owners need is less government, so that can get back to making money and rescue the economy right?

Right guys? I was taking notes, trying to be bootstrappy. That's why we went apeshiat over the financial reform bill, right? Government interfering in the free market and all, right?

Oh yeah, guys, I think there might be a misprint in my Bible. It says "For the love of money is the root of all evil." Should that read pootietang?

I'm confused.

Here's my hypothesis:

1. Recession drives down strip club business.

2. Election campaign contributions, taxes and "donations" to local politicians go down.

3. Politicians respond with goofy law to shake down strip clubs.

/jus' sayin'

I'm from missouri and have gotten lost in E St. Louis, so I'm really getting a kick out of this.

A lot of Missouri is extremely conservative. The high school production of Grease was a huge controversy in my town (after a few fundies complained and the superintendent caved a little too quickly). This then became a local political event. It seems that a lot of MO politics is more about morality than law. I left for college and am really glad I got out.

east cape? granted ive only seen it from 146 but there only seems to be one club. arethere more that i havent seen?

on another note, they have since downsized it,but it used to really crack me up driving either way on 65 in tennesse, the booby bungalow sign in HUGE letters. just ashort distance from the state line.

Wow. Just shining beacon of St. Louis intellect. Sauget may die, but there's a lot more to the Metro East than Sauget (Though, from the sounds of it you've spent maybe an hour outside city limits in your life).

except that gambling was allowed in MO only under certain conditions, which are one by one being relaxed. Im not quite as distrusting as arte1953, but if the strip joints were padding the governments pocket as well as the casinos, they probably wouldnt be getting buried. also, the fact that politicians can accept comped rooms and credit at a casino but not lap dances, may have something to do with it.

Cool story coming.

Was in St Louic Missouri, then went over the bridge to a strip club. Had fun. End of story.

/Also met a girl who could light a pipe and drive stick at the same time after smoking said pipe. wish I had gotten a number...

are you serious? do you even know what goes on beyond your little spectrum of life? truly,my comment hadd nothing to do with sauget whatsoever, like it or not, that little community will never die.
in your narrow little mind, did you not consider brooklyn, stste park place,or any number of other small communties that are totally realiant on the money these clubs bring? just how did you become so superiour without thinking of them? sauget can survive just fine without pandering to the folks who want to see strippers. in fact, the strippers came to them from other locals when they were doing just fine with night clubs and discos for the late night partiers. you sound really young and dont really seem to have much grasp on the history of st louis night life.
pt's was originally in centerville, pretty long stretch from sauget.
never really been sure where art mowes was.regardless, sauget willprobably always do ok even if they didnt have ONE club with topless dancing. always gonna have the crowd who aint quite ready to quit. and by the way, cahokia used to have a LOT of nice little bars for those who chose to do thier thing between midnight and sunrise. all gone now.

The east side has better strip clubs.

2010-08-11 09:44:38 PM
Maybe I should have RTFA, but if this is a Missouri law then there's no harm. All the strip clubs worth going to in the Missouri area are in East St. Louis, which is in Illinois.

and on a side note, anyone brave enough to go to Sauget, especially at night, deserves to have a good time while they're there. Party like there's no tomorrow should be the official motto.

I've been there a dozen or so times to kill time at strip clubs while I was living out of a hotel waiting for my employer to get their shiat together on the relocation front, and I've been there for an Overkill concert at Pop's. It's dangerous fun, but it is fun.

it really is kinda sad that so many seem to think they have the right to tell everyone what they can do. as well as some can pass judgement on someone from just reading a few lines. people have really lost touch with what is real anymore.
my recent attacker included. kbotc.
back in the day, illinois had a younger drinking age then missouri, there fore, most of us missouirians with the means to do it,spent a lot of time and money on illinois, the granary, stonehedge, eds, sportsmans park, cahokia lounge, beegees, the doghouse, panama reds, the collinsville ballroom, yadda yadda yadda.
your comment came off kinda blueblooded. were you born to rich parents? or are you twelve years old?
