You're just being mean, subby.

/it's ok, I'm just a standard deviant myself

2010-08-10 12:01:31 PM
The median was five, math whiz.

2010-08-10 12:02:20 PM
Ugh, wait, I'm the math whiz. Failtacular, subby's right. Going to go self-flaggelate.

2010-08-10 12:06:50 PM
Meh. An average headline, at best.

2010-08-10 12:17:11 PM
What are the chances of that happening?

"Cleland says five of the dead were in the SUV."

So, one was an outlier?

Gonz: "Cleland says five of the dead were in the SUV."

So, one was an outlier?

And one was found in the area under the curve. This is significant.

I'm weighting to see what caused it.

2010-08-10 02:15:53 PM
Meh. I've seen better headlines. And worse ones.

2010-08-10 02:53:11 PM
Let's see:

Subby, that's mean.
This headline is average.
outlier

shiat guys, no remainder?

2010-08-10 02:53:48 PM
Wtf. Good thing that SUV hit the median as that median seemed to be unstoppable, having already killed six.

2010-08-10 02:54:30 PM
This Looks Fun: shiat guys, no remainder?

leave that question for the mod.

Seems about normal for the standard of deviation.

ONLY ONE WAS KNOWN BAPTIST ATHLETE AND DESERVING OF HEADLINE & ARTICLE FOCUS!

All the rest were atheists or fatties getting a fiery anonymous death.

2010-08-10 03:38:04 PM
Math geekiness aside, that headline sucked.

2010-08-10 03:44:35 PM
I was told there would be no math.

2010-08-10 03:55:14 PM
Damned SUVs and their killing rampages!

Agreed on all points, with the exception of the smooth integration from negative infinity clear cross country.

2010-08-10 04:26:36 PM
The "different modes of transportation" are the two cars? That's quite a reach for a joke, and is not even tangent to a decent headline, submitter.

All sines point to alcohol being a factor.

Guelph35: All sines point to alcohol being a factor.

A prime factor, perhaps?

His joke was funny, but i found yours to be derivative. I would say that was a function of you posting after him and borrowing his joke. But there might be more than one answer to that question, so I'm not sure if it is a function or not.

What were the vans doing in the median in the first place?

Oh. Cross-country team.

Nevermind.

/was told there'd be no math

2010-08-10 06:54:50 PM
This has to be a deviation from the normal. It can't be standard.

In 2006 there was a bunch of head on crashes on route 17 between Monroe NY and Middletown NY.
There was going to be a median guard rail eventually but after a crash
that killed a mom and daughter the project was completed ahead of schedule.

I see the work crews repairing them over and over.

(I suppose that's less expensive than steel posts to destroy crossing vehicles.)

This is the first time a story posted to Fark has been personally relevant. Wendy Rice, the cheerleading coach who died, was the wife of a longtime friend and coworker of mine. The office was a mess today. Sucks.

I Gauss that this doesn't happen very often, but I could go either way with that.

Where'd they bury the survivors?

ExtremeFajita: Where'd they bury the survivors?

Dude, this is California. Don't joke like that.

Sorry that they died but people have a false sense of security in SUV's they are top heavy and have no business being in ihe fast lane,SUv's are not designed for high speeds at all. .
