Let's eradicate those dogs, oohh doo-dah-dayyy....

2001-10-09 09:29:46 AM
I wonder if the snake felt any remorse deep down...in the pit of his stomach.

2001-10-09 09:33:36 AM
Good, the only thing pit bulls are good for is mauling children. I'm sure the trailer is much roomier now.

2001-10-09 09:45:10 AM
I submitted this! Bastards!

2001-10-09 09:56:28 AM
Don't blame the breed of the dog, blame the people that train them to be vicious...I have 1 and she is so placid and licks everyone to death...

EQAddict : So did I. My submisison didn't get put up either.

2001-10-09 10:00:43 AM
I own 2, and they are great loving babies, not vicious attack dogs. If you anti pitbull people would do some research you would find that they are not supposed to be people aggressive when bred properly. you can make any dog mean, just kick it every time you see it sooner or later it will retaliate, no matter what the breed.

2001-10-09 10:02:04 AM
I submitted it too, but negelected the crucial Stephen Foster rhyming. I also thought it less and more .

2001-10-09 10:04:52 AM
I own 2, and they are great loving babies, not vicious attack dogs.

In most cases, it's the owners who ought to be pythonized, not the dogs. The owners are the ones turning them into monsters, although the breed does have characteristics that help out.

2001-10-09 10:07:36 AM
There are plenty of cases where those "loving babies" have mauled real babies.

nuffsaid

2001-10-09 10:08:28 AM
all animals have got defensive instincts...unfortunatly there are horrid owners out there that think it is cool to have a vicious animals...SAD BUT TRUE

2001-10-09 10:10:40 AM
Ok, I understand that with carefull training and a loving household, pit bulls can be good pets. But whenever you hear about a little kid getting attacked by a dog, it's usually a pit bull. Is it fair for me to classify all of them as bad-no, but I wouldn't let my kid (if I have them) near one. I'd rather make those generalizations then be sorry I didn't.

No offense meant.

2001-10-09 10:12:35 AM
Oh, and someone who decides that a pit bull and a python are good pets, I doubt are responible pet owners. And if you take offense to that, too bad.

I'll shut up now.

EQAddict, Sethor, Jjorsett - Ha Ha, it was me.
*small smile of pride for first submission accepted*

2001-10-09 10:14:13 AM
the reason you hear about so many pittbull's attacking is because there are so many demented people that obtain these dog's as fighting dog's...Yes the instinct is there if human's bring that instinct out.

2001-10-09 10:20:21 AM
Scrappy:I am sure you will make a great dad with your attitude and no offense taken about owning a pitbull..I have three great boy's of my own that I love dearly and I would never even consider having a crazed animal in my home with them.

2001-10-09 10:35:21 AM
actually, the reason you hear about so many pits attacking is because when they do, they don't quit. ever. a chihuahua attacks more often, so does a collie or a jack russel. those attacks just end up with stitches and lawsuits instead of death and a newspaper article. but you guys really are doing a good job of parroting the half-informed reactionary stances of both "sides" of this "issue." i'd like to hear what you have to say about abortion some time. yeesh.

2001-10-09 10:51:27 AM
I know I said I'd shut up, but...

Ozzie, thank you for the compliment, but in order for me to be a good dad, I'd either need some very expensive sugery or I'd confuse the hell out of my kids.

Bubbasatva-Abortion? Why bring up abortion? It has nothing to do with this article, go troll somewhere else.

2001-10-09 10:51:37 AM
They opened the snake up to get the dog. Oddly enough, then they opened the dog up to find a small woman. The small woman was wearing snakeskin boots. Elton John was right, man. Circle of life.

2001-10-09 11:19:15 AM
Sorry guys, gotta pipe in here, I have a 3 year old pit bull whussy boy. He would more likely lick you to death. Actually I remember hearing somewhere that the dogs that have the highest biting record is some little yappy dog. Also, if pit bulls are soo bad, howcome my two cats are still alive? Especially the declawed one that feels free to bite him on the nose anytime he feels like it?

2001-10-09 11:28:15 AM
PS. My Shepard mix (who is now deceased) would fight other dogs if they challenged him. Pit bull LIKES all other dogs, and has in fact, RUN AWAY from another agressive dog. Although I will admit, groundhogs dont stand a chance.

2001-10-09 11:29:22 AM
PPS. "Petey" from the Little Rascals was a Pit Bull. During the 1920's Pit Bulls were VERY popular family dogs.

2001-10-09 11:36:07 AM
That "doo-dah" shiat just gets funnier every time.

2001-10-09 11:38:02 AM
Scrappy:LOL...sorry about that,I just presumed you were a male...lol...You will make a good Mother some day...My appologies

2001-10-09 11:42:59 AM
And to you Bubba...I am very antiabortionist unless there are special circumstances....With the current forms of contraception out there this day and age there is no reason for unwanted pregnancies...Problem is abortion is so readily available that some women use it as a form of contraception...anyways that is my views...and this is certainly not the thread to discuss this so I will SHUT THE FARK UP...

2001-10-09 11:44:13 AM
Pit Bulls were #1 as far as attacks are concerned. Now they are #2. The Rottweiller took over #1.
Pit Bulls just snap and don't know when to quit. They are extremely possesive of thier owners and will attack if they feel thier owners are threatened. They scare the hell out of me.

2001-10-09 11:53:22 AM
Max Load: I will repeat this again:
the reason you hear about so many pittbull's attacking is because there are so many demented people that obtain these dog's as fighting dog's...Yes the instinct is there if human's bring that instinct out.
But I do understand the reasons that people are scared of this breed as unfortunatly they have recieved a bad rap.

2001-10-09 11:59:31 AM
They killed Rexi!!!!!!!!!!!
Bastards!!!!!

2001-10-09 12:05:06 PM
it's not that pit bulls dont know when to quit, its that terriers, and that is any terrier from rat to airdale, will bite and hold untill it finds a better place to bite and hold again. this is a terrier trait not a pitbull trait.

2001-10-09 12:56:34 PM
I wonder if worrying if your pit bull is going to attack is a self-fulfilling prophecy. You get one, then you worry it might turn on you...and while you're worrying the dog senses your fear and guess what?

My sister has a black-Lab mix that's part pit bull. He has a bit of a mean streak (as in he can be REALLY stubborn) but other than that he's affectionate. My uncle hates dogs, my sister's dog senses that...so if my uncle shows up at my mother's door that dog raises all kinds of hell. Prince (the dog's name) is extremely intelligent though, and in the weeks before my dad died, Dad had to sleep in my old room in a hospital bed, and Prince checked on him every hour during the night. Now Prince sits in Dad's old spot on the couch. And he annoys the hell out of the Great Dane, Ceasar. :)

So somebody gets the one breed of dog (out of hundreds) that's got a mouth like an alligator.

Now, how many of them get them because they have a "bad" reputation and are hoping that will rub off on them?

Honest answers now.

Still, I respect any animal that's got the chops to strangle a pit bull.

It would be funny if the snake ate that tard on the airplane over Chicago yesterday. Ever seen one of those "window lickers" eat mashed potatoes?

I think the owner of the dog has alot to do with how it acts as an adult. I have met many people with pitbulls and many other types of dogs, and since they are nice to them, the dogs don't feel threatened by people. But, when a dog does something wrong, or barks and you beat it, eventually it will retalliate. This is why it's a good idea to get a dog as a puppy. But ya, Pit's just have a bad rep. to be mean dogs. How long did it take him to find the dog since it had been lost? Also, how does a python kill? Does it just eat it whole? I don't know snakes to well, but if it doesn't strange it or parralize it in any way, why didn't they just cut the snake open and grab that dog. I'd much rather have the dog than the snake... better personality. Snakes are so lame.

2001-10-09 02:32:13 PM
I have many friends with pitbulls, they are ok dogs, but I would stay away from males, they try to screw everything in sight (just my observation). The best pure-bred by far is still the Staffordshire Terrier

Ahem, the CDC reported since "1975, dogs belonging to 30 breeds have been responsible for fatal attacks on people, including daschaunds, a yorkshire terrier and a labrador retriever..several interacting factors affect a dog's propensity to bite, including heredity, sex, early experieince, socialization and training, health(medical and behavioural), reproductive status, quality of ownership and supervision and victim behavior"
See http://www.cdc.gov/ncipc/duip/dogbites.htm if you want more information...

Excuse me! A lot of dogs are alligator mouths... It's just that pitbull is one the strongest... My airedale is one of the friendliest dogs I've ever seen, but we had our arguments. Even when playing, she can grip pretty hard, penetrating skin and not letting go unless you start talking in a calm tone. Heck, she's been attacked by a nutjob german shepperd and she gripped it by the thigh... Tore out a piece of flesh.

Pitbulls are really nice, like all terriers, and are NOT prone to attacking anybody. I've dealt with a lot of dogs, and I even fought a pitbull with my barehands. What I did was let it grab my jacket, and I didn't pull but started talking in a calm tone... in about 10 seconds, it let go.

Most terriers are capable of killing a human if needed, actually most dogs are capable of killing humans... Depending on their courage, determination and most importantly training and personality they can be dangerous or not.

I've never seen a dangerous pitbull, they are reasonable, somewhat deadly, but not extremely dangerous to the public. Although i've seen dozens of those old-lady little dogs like chihuahuas etc that would kill if they could.

And most of the attacks that I've witnessed(about 5-6) were totally warranted by the so-called "victim".
You just don't kick, taunt or otherwise irritate anybody... be it me, a dog or any other animal.

People who do that sort of thing are lucky we are not in the "wild" with no laws.. Cause if we were I'd be mauling people myself.

Ahem. Pit Bulls still highest http://www.cdc.gov/epo/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00047723.htm

Scrappy is right.. If somebody keeps a pit bull and a burmese python, they don't like animals, they like their Beavis and Butthead laughing while their vicious animals devour other things.. In my experience (Working in a pet store), most large snake people who aren't breeding them (Snake breeders have to be the most intelligent people around, go figure), are stupid alpha males who think that having an animal that eats rabbits is cool and likely to get them laid.
Same thing goes for single males who have rotties or pit bulls, and how odd, are already on a muzzle.

2001-10-09 03:54:27 PM
I don't care what breed it is, when you buy a dog as the cheapest form of burgular alarm for your house, lock him into a 4 X 6 foot concrete cage outside exposed to the weather for their whole life, I blame the farking humans. It's discusting.

Ok, who got mauled to death by a Daschound?

For another $.02 I'll tell ya my thoughts on human reproduction...

2001-10-09 03:56:18 PM
I have Aussies.

2001-10-09 04:01:09 PM
I have Sea Monkeys

Ahem, for the last two periods, Rottweiller attacks were more than double those of Pits. The article states: "Although some breeds were disproportionately represented in the fatal attacks described in this report, the representation of breeds changes over time (Table_1). As a result, targeting a specific breed may be unproductive; a more effective approach may be to target chronically irresponsible dog owners (9)."

2001-10-09 04:56:05 PM
Still rather be "attacked" or bit by almost any other dog.
The only thing I see change over time is who will win the coveted fatal dog attack award each year, Pit or Rott?

2001-10-09 04:56:06 PM
A shame the articles wasn't headed 'Burmese Python eats Brad Pitt'.

2001-10-09 05:40:36 PM
Yeah, I used to wrestle Burmese pythons, one 9-footer and one 10-footer. Actually, I handled them for an animal show. They kill by constriction, that is to say, they squeeze ya so you can't breath. After you're dead, they unhinge their jaws and slowly start swallowing you. Needless to say, you don't handle them unless somebody else is within shouting distance...

I also handled a 6-foot water monitor - what a sweetheart! I hated the parrots, though.

2001-10-09 05:45:42 PM
Pit bulls are just like any other dog, they can be mean or nice.. Been said a lot of times up there.

Oh yeah, and I'll reply to the comment about women who use abortion as a contraceptive - give me ONE example. Abortion is VERY EXPENSIVE and is considered major surgery - it is NOT perfectly safe (no surgery is, people sometimes just die from anesthesia for no apparent reason)..

2001-10-09 05:51:53 PM
Pit bulls are great dogs. Its the people who own them that are dangerous.

I feel for the dog. goes to show, certain animals shouldnt be kept as pets, burmese python being one of them.

This time its a pit bull, next time its a kid. People who have dangerous pets like this (Or those yahoos who get lions or tigers as housepets) are just asking for trouble.
