WelldeadLink: I wonder what Hugh Hefner thinks of this.

He knows because he reads the articles.

It is now pretty clearly agreed that the C02 content will rise 25% by 2000. This could increase the average temperature near the earth' s surface by 7 degrees Fahrenheit. This in turn could raise the level of the sea by 10 feet. Goodbye New York.

Well that never happened, did it. Turns out it was all just a bunch of hooey. That's what it was then. That's what it is now.

Wow. Al Gore was still inventing the internet back then.

I'd like to officially start a campaign to insert a second "f" into Hefner's name. I'm sure it's his favorite letter anyway.

Joseph Fourier explains the physics behind the greenhouse effect, using carbon dioxide as the example... in 1824. (PDF)

Svante Arrehenius explains how the burning of fossil fuels could influence the climate because of the increase in carbon dioxide... in 1896. (PDF)

Not a new topic. But like evolution, it has taken society a long time to understand it, and there are still holdouts based not on evidence, but on political ideologies.

Hell, Fourier's work is even older than Darwin's theory.

Speaking of political ideologies, there's an article in Scientific American about how a change in climate could incre3ase illegal immigration:

Many of those who deny any manmade contributions to climate change are also vehemently opposed to illegal immigrants. If this article turns out to be true, what's a denier to do?

You probably should have read the sentence right below that one then:

It is entirely possible that there will be countervailing effects. For example...

Not only is this a repeat from July 3rd, but it's Hubert Heffner, not Hugh Hefner.

One of the biggest reasons that everyone on this site thinks you're an utter idiot is because you clearly stop reading things at the point you think you have a basis to refute. Had you kept reading, you wouldn't have made your post, and you wouldn't have looked like an idiot. However, looking like an idiot is in your nature, you just can't help yourself and so you didn't keep reading.

I don't know - I'm going to need to see his birth certificate to see if that's true or not. That information should be on the long form.
