They have been charged with disorderly conduct

you made them come out so they have to charge you with something?

Pretty much, yes. They are lucky it was just the conduct charge, I'm sure they could have found something terroristic if they dug a little deeper.

It was an M. Night Shamadingdong short, so what was actually supposed to happen was that there would really be two people in the trunk. Only one of them would be the spare tire!

Exactly... Can't just say "Hey kids, be careful in the future because people might misinterpret what you're doing."

Instead because they are cops and by being cops they are douche bags they must arrest and then charge them with something to make their small penis feel larger.

2010-07-31 06:08:57 PM
Sorry, but when they cause a minor panic and waste police time and resources they're going to get charged with disorderly conduct.

All they had to do was tell the cops "hey we're going to be faking a crime here", would have taken five minutes out of their day. Rather than do that they made the police think actual lives were in danger and diverted the police from actual crimes that might have been committed.

As usual, the Fark pro-crime-and-stupid-behavior brigade is out strong. I expect to see half of you as Fark headlines yourself one day when you fail to realize the danger you are putting yourself and others in when you do some stupid s**t like this and end up getting shot by an overzealous wannabe hero, or due to something else stupid you would do due to your lack of foresight.

The fact that they were caught by the police for their "prank" is a testament to how poorly planned this was in the first place.

I personally thought their film was very reminiscent of Pasolini's landmark documentary Sopralluoghi in Palestina per il vangelo secondo Matteo, attempting to find simplicity when facing the harsh realities of modernity and globalization. At the end, viewers are left with the question "did the director find, or lose faith?" The answer, of course is that he did both.

I give it five out of five claps on the clap board

Since I didn't specify in my previous post, I actually have no problem with the disorderly conduct charge here. If they wanted to film a kidnapping they shouldn't have done it somewhere the cops were likely to get involved. Disorderly conduct is a relatively light charge and appropriate to the situation.

Now if they had been charged with kidnapping that would be an entirely different thing.

Not real sure how penises got brought into this..

You're farking retarded if you think it's that simple.

"Hey, we're going to be faking a robbery and getawayat the first federal later, ok?"
"lol ok"
*people rob the bank and get away with it because the police don't respond*

Or more relevant,

"Hey, we're going to fake a kidnapping at the kmart parking lot today."
"Alright"
*people actually kidnap someone and police don't respond*

Are you kidding me??? Seriously.. call the police and say you're going to fake something.. Really?

Then the headline would be "Four people arrested for planning on faking a kidnapping for a personal video."

Cops are there for the sole purpose to arrest people they do not like or people that they may not like if they ever meet them. Other than that they're pretty useless.

I could see charging them with filming without a permit, but disorderly conduct seems excessive. Hopefully the DA is smart enough to just drop the case.

RealAmericanaTroll: go fark yourself, which I suspect you do a lot.

Seriously, though, Disorderly conduct is a little too much here. Maybe a ticket for the passenger in the trunk. I don't know what's with cops these days. There used to be this thing called discretion, but it seems some towns have done away with it. Maybe its a liability thing, maybe its what happens when generations X and Y become cops.

I lean closer towards not liking cops than liking them, but there is a line of realism that needs to be drawn. They're civil servants, not bond villains. Civil servants that sometimes taser paralyzed women, but civil servants none the less.

Years ago a friend was making a movie for his H.S. film class, and in this film I played the part of a guy who kept getting beaten up in various places around the town. We shot one scene in the public park. Another actor chased me down and tackled me and began to "beat me up".
A bunch of guys on the basketball court, who didn't see the cameraman, stopped their game, ran out into the field and began to beat the hell out of my "assailant". It ended pretty quick with both of us shouting "Stop, we're making a movie!" while pointing at the cameraman, but it was pretty amusing. We thanked the guys, and they went back to their basketball game.

He was probably using his cell phone to provide the worst possible video and audio quality, while shaking it all around and going "WOOOOOO!" making the sound distort.

If the kid was filming for youtube, do you think he was using a fully-decked out RED, or that he just breaks out the shiatty 3-minute-limit video camera on his cell phone?

Our cameraman was on the roof of a building next to the basketball court. Completely understandable why nobody noticed him.

12 grade English; senior project was to film a movie. We were explicitly told, several times over, that we were to notify the police ahead of time if we were planning on emulating any crimes, for this exact reason.

. . . Okay, that's sort of understandable then. But almost anywhere else, Jonathan Hohensee would be right.

(For those who don't know what I'm talking about, see this link:
http://www.trutv.com/ library/crime/gangsters_outlaws/cops_others/len_davis/4.html (new window)

The linked page is part of a longer story about a case where a New Orleans police officer was convicted for ordering the murder of a woman for filing a complaint against him, but also goes into the long history of police corruption in that city. That same police officer was also convicted of participating in a drug ring along with other members of the New Orleans police department.)

I only worked on a few films, some that were done outside on public property, and on two occasions, the cops were total douche bags. While everyone was busy, one cop took it upon himself to rummage through equipment and found a roach in someone's (not mine) equipment box. He claimed it was just sitting there on top, which was total bull shait. The s.o.b. had to lift a try to get to where the roach was. I'm not denying the roach was there, but the cop had to hunt for it. Everything was shut down, narco pigs were called in, and that was the end of that shoot.

Another time, some fat slob parking ticket cop claimed our permit wasn't valid. It was, he just didn't know what day it was. Truly, the cop didn't know what day of the week it was. It took over an hour for a supervisor to come out and say "yeah, today is Tuesday". I swear one of the cops that showed up for that one stole one of my tool boxes.

Am I a paranoid anti-cop nut? Sometimes. Good and bad in every profession. Must say the supervisor who came out to verify what day of the week it was was a total gentleman.
