This is probably all because of some old hag hating on the kids playing outside her window.

That's just crazy talk, man.

If only there was a fire suppressant within easy reach.

Pool construction permits cost a LOT here (as do permits to finish basements and anything else that is considered an "improvement").

Those big inflatable pools are large enough that people can use them instead of permanently installed pools. And when that happens, the township loses thousands of dollars in tax revenue.

So yeah, it's about the safety- of township employee pension plans.

Phil Herup when I lived in southern New Mexico, I had one of those blue plastic pools that you buy at Wal-Mart in my backyard. I looked just about like that girl sitting in it, but it was really nice anyway.

Weird thing was that my dog wouldn't go near it, even though she was so hot all the time that she lay in the house and peed herself because she was too hot to move.

If only there were some sort of fire retardant chemical one could fill said pools with...

What kind of fire trucks do you people have over there, that they couldn't just drive over* the kiddie pool?

*please remove children first

What's up with the weight lifter kid on the left? They should just have him beat up the fires.

Emma Stacey, 30, whose six-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son have been playing in the pool during the hot weather, said: 'This is an equality issue. If a child lives in a flat, the council are basically saying they do not have the same right to play, socialise and exercise as children living in houses.

'The kids aren't allowed to skate outside, are not allowed to play ball games, and now this. Parents have to take their children somewhere to play.

Should have thought about that before you moved into a flat.

So, council flat = public housing?

hmmm...if I'm in a fire truck, and have to get from Point A to Point B to tend to an actual fire...and there is a kiddie paddling pool in the way...

Poof....squashed paddling pool

/assuming no kids are in it

Let me invite the H&S officers to visit one of the pools where I will gladly show that they can be held under the water for extended periods of time and they will not sustain any burn injuries nor experience any fire risks whatsoever.

Of course, this being the Daily Fail, there's certain to be facts omitted, such as whether or not this pool was set up inside a fire lane, or blocking a building exit, or whatever.

Also, the notion that a relatively small, unpressurized pool of water might somehow be useful in a serious firefighting operation is laughable. If the fire is small enough that a kiddie pool could aid in its fighting, it's so small you shouldn't be calling the fire department to begin with.

Well, you could use dihydrogen monoxide, but that stuff kills lots of people every year. Probably too dangerous.

Did you RTFA? It includes comments from the fire department basically saying the council are idiots and don't know wtf they are talking about.

Tell me the truth, England. To be a public safety official in the UK, you have to have medalled in the Twit Olympics from Monty Python, right? Right?

I have heard they also banned inflatable swimming pools in London in 1666, and look how that turned out.

Chicago tried this as well, back in 1871. It ended badly.
