There are legitimate role-playing reasons for D&D characters to worship dead gods. Dead gods, however, cannot grant divine power.

I can only imagine one of the more hotly contested parts is 'Issuing Fatwas'.

No doubt, extra points are given for properly pointing your finger when issuing fatwas. They're not 'real fatwas' until you point your finger.....
