I've lived most of my 40 years in Florida.

I grew up in the beautiful beaches of Ft. Walton & Destin on the Panhandle. Nowadays I live around the beautiful beaches of St. Pete and Pinellas.

I would kick anyone's ass if they argued they should be allowed to drive on the beach. I guess the rednecks around Daytona LIKE oil on their beaches.

There's the stupidest beachgoers in the world, right there.

What were two 4 year olds doing alone on a beach? Sure, lets make driving on the highway illegal too just in case some bad parents let their kids wander there.

I love the "childfree" assholes that are drawn to these threads like flies to shiat.

But don't worry, they weren't "alone". FTA: County records show that since 2005, about a third of the 46 pedestrians hit by cars, trucks, golf carts or all-terrain vehicles on Volusia beaches were age 7 or under.

Unless you drive a 80's vintage Olds, you're not leaving oil on the beach. We regularly drive out on the beach in the Outer Banks, NC, and it's a great time. For one, you have access to miles and miles of beach that have no roads to them.

I'm in favor of the parents paying more attention to their kids since they got there in a car as well.

My car on the beach in Northern Ireland a few years ago. Beach is about seven miles long. There were about twenty people on it when I was there.

I knew a guy in college in the late '70's that bought a 4WD Chevy Blazer or something like that & got a special fishing licence and a set of casting rods, just so he could drive out onto Jones Beach.

This reminds me of Prop 8.

These people, beach-driving-enthusiasts, want to drive on the beach. Denying them that right unfairly discriminates against all beach-driving-enthusiasts. Just because YOU might not care to drive on the beach, and would rather drive on roads, doesnt mean this entire class of people should be discriminated against, and have their desires denied, and their rights denied. One day, beach-driving-enthusiasts will be given the same rights as everyone else, and we will look back on this day, on those who would deny this class of people their rights, as bigots.

Equal Protection under the law for everyone!

Nobody lies in the middle of the farking highway, nobodies house is right up on the farking highway, there's almost ALWAYS some sort of barrier. Honestly, I don't see why anyone other than official personal need to be driving on a beach.

Because the beach is 10-15 miles from the nearest road? There are houses in CoroVa, NC that literally are beach access only. No roads. No highways. You enter from the beach.

No cars on any beaches along South Jersey coast, and, as far as I know, Delaware, Maryland or Virginia.

Seems like a spectacularly stupid idea to have cars there with the exception of areas where there are miles of sparsely populated beaches with no dunes to create blind spots for the drivers.

The reason they do it isn't just for the driving; there is next to nowhere left to actually park if you are going to Daytona Beach unless you are a tourist staying in one of the hotels. I know I know who's fault is that and yadda yadda. They take driving/parking on the beach away, they essentially privatize the entire beach to the hotels lining it.

Beach patrons not driving: How about staying the fark out of the driving lane unless it's clear.

Beach drivers: How about staying the fark in the driving lane?

There. Everything else is pure negligence on either party.

That's lazy as hell.

What is wrong with walking on the beach?

2010-07-30 01:56:33 PM
I suppose many people have never been to a beach where cars are allowed. It's pretty much like you'd expect; lots of smelly, dirty, noisy cars cruising up an down what is basically an unmarked roadway right next to the beach-goers who are trying to walk, run, swim etc... Many of the drivers aren't paying very close attention to driving the car.

I think the major issues with keeping cars off the beaches is that there's nowhere to park.

Tenburn: What were two 4 year olds doing alone on a beach? Sure, lets make driving on the highway illegal too just in case some bad parents let their kids wander there.

It is a farking beach. You know, the place where you carry the kids to build sand castles, splash in the surf, and generally run around having fun and blowing off steam. The idea of staking you kid to one spot with a chain in antithetical to the entire point of going to the beach. That some jackass feels the need to drive through a crowded area because he thinks asphalt is passe and gauche is the problem. The beach has always been seen as a place where you go to lay around and walk around. You analogy works better if you ask why was some 4 year old playing in a neighborhood park, because everyone knows parks are Autobahn surrogates.

Your mother really needs to be executed for terrorism and treason for not aborting you, and thus inflicting damage upon American psyches with your farktardness. I would say your father too, but I doubt she remembered which bichon frisse was the father.

"The county should spend the money to educate the public and the toll takers about (existing) no driving areas," he said. "We don't need government taking away another of our freedoms."

This guy seems confused. THe beach is not a road. He seems to be acting like the beach is a road, and there are designated pedestrian areas. This is incorrect and also retarded as hell.
