Escargot is not that bad, submitter. Really, anything as bland as that completely drowned in garlic and butter is going to be okay if you can get past the texture.

Whenever I travel, I usually try something local. I used to say I'd eat anything until I started traveling in SE Asia and China -- now I have to use a lot of caveats about cruelty and such.

That said, last time I was in Paris I tried escargot and really liked it. Then again, I also like haggis.

For us French, if it can move on its own, then it can be eaten.

I'm like a lot of French people, I like my food with a dose of cruelty to animals : lamb, veal, raw oysters, lobsters boiled alive, fois gras...

Next time you go to France, try some delicacies such as : steak tartare (raw ground beef with a raw egg), roquefort cheese (the green is mold), rognons blancs (sheep testicles) or beef tongue.

L'autre côté de cette me dit que les Américains étaient sans doute des gens gras et peut-être qu'ils n'ont tout simplement faire trop de manger et c'est ce qui a causé la maladie. Je ne sais pas si la perte de poids serait l'option car alors ils ne seraient pas les véritables représentants.

Je suis heureux que je ne suis pas le juge de cela, mais si j'étais le juge de ce que je voudrais dire à tous que le peuple en France ne sent très mauvais à cause de ne pas utiliser ce déodorant. RIRES HV!

The French aren't the only ones who eat snails. In Germany they are a staple appetiser in any medium-priced restaurant. And they're good.

Snails are fing awesome. I eat them whenever/whereever they are served.

No, the carbs bind with the fat and reduce the ability of the butter to coat the tongue and deliver the fat-soluable flavors while the protein from the snails just cuts the butter enough so you're not snacking on liquid butter Paula Deen style.

And as for snails vs. bread? Hell yeah I'm taking the snails. You'll notice they sell a lot of them in France which has some of the best bread around.
