Drilling for oil, under water, seems like the worst idea ever. The Oil Whores are choking our planet.
I will never eat fish, or seafood ever again. I will not swim in the water either.
To make the problem worse is the concern for clean drinking water, and clean soil ... WTF?

Don't worry. Noted economist and environmental scientist Rand Paul has assured me that the market fixed these problems 50 years ago. Any evidence to the contrary is a lie, illusion, or plot against our American way of life.
Or, as Michelle Bachmann would no doubt put it, if we'd only have gotten rid of all of those regulations, the pipeline companies would have been able to keep these things from happening.

So...what's the ratio then? One oil leak for every 500 trillion mosquitoes?

Gosh one state gets an oil leak and now they ALL want them.

/waiting on Kansas offshore drilling disaster

Um, you people do realize that stuff like this happens all the time and over the last several decades, safety and such has improved drastically. With all the miles of pipeline MN has that's not too surprising.

Enbridge Energy, the firm behind a pipeline leak in Michigan that dumped more than 800,000 gallons of oil in a rural creek over the weekend,

The Kalamazoo River isn't a rural creek, sure it's not on par with the Mississippi or Missouri, but rural it is not.

I live in MN and my car is currently leaking oil, so I'm really getting a kick out of these replies!

Um, the leak WAS IN FACT in a rural creek that feeds in to the river.

The only thing that has been consistently leaky for the last 10 years is our special teams coverage.

THIS.

And guess where it ends up.

God-effing-dammit, except for my local NPR affiliate and Colbert, anytime anyone bothers to even mention the Kalamazoo spill I feel like punching them in the face because it never seems like a big deal to them.

Just to balance things out, I'm a Minnesotan that doesn't care about football.. be it Vikings, Packers or college ball.

Those of you trading insults over your favorite teams are complete idiots and embarrassments to the rest of us.

Go cheer for your favorite (political party|sports team|religion|nascar driver) elsewhere.

That is all.

Never mind their latest million gallon spill. Just like the excuse that safety was great in the Gulf coast before the Deepwater Horizon. There's no need to worry - 'clean oil' for everyone!

I wonder how many of those leaks are caused by third parties, and out of the pipelines' hands? "Call before you dig" isn't just a suggestion, ya know...

I live in Fargo ND, and they are heavily Advertising to wash your boats and make sure there are no plants transferred from one lake to another.

Wouldnt this be a higher priority?
