Looking over my color prediction, I suspect that I have over-estimated the number of cats that will have any orange at all. With mom being tri-color, I think statistically, no more than 50% of the litter should have any orange on the coat at all. The gene for orange is either off or on, and it lives on the X chromosome. Females with two X's can have orange on AND off, creating a tricolor. Males, with only 1 X, can't have it both ways. Orange females are rarer than orange males, because the girls need the orange gene turned on in BOTH of their X's to be all orange.

Sorry for geeking out. I learned all of this in a book called "Cats Are Not Peas," all about why there aren't any calico males to speak of.
