Sun Khan: (It was kind of embarrassing to bring her to the vet to get her spayed and have "[no name]" called out in the waiting room...)

If you think that's embarrassing, I filled out "male" on the vet form for Ollie O. I swear it looked like 2 dots, not a dot and a line. I also put "Oliver" for the name. They came back and said it's a girl. Ha!

Fia, Ollie looks to be having a marvelous time! Olive only uses her scratching post to hide behind when she's playing. I tried dangling toys from it, tying socks filled with catnip around the post, catnip ON the post and base... she just wasn't having it. Her new thing is cardboard boxes and paper bags.

Sun Khan, if Gracie fits, then I say go with it. You're the only one who will know when the name meshes with the cat. It's good to see that she adores the kids, and vice versa :)

Dexter the longcat!

Great Oogoly Googoly! I had a cat that was the clone to Dexter. His name was Spud and he was a good, GOOOOOOD kitty.

You are so lucky to have such a beautiful boy. I miss my bud Spud every day, but smile because we gave him a wonderful life.

Hmm... looks like there's going to be a lot of cake going around. Yay for Pogo's birthday and for the mewbies! Glad I didn't pig out at the fair! The kid did great showing her moo and two baby moos - won two grand champions and a reserve grand along with a ton of blue ribbons :) She's totally exhausted after being in the show ring for about 4 hours today. I'm exhausted from watching her and thinking a nap might be in order. Sorry to hear about kittehs who went to the bridge, including the 4 mewbies :( They were all loved and will be missed.

I'm sure Ollie O would hide behind it, but it's butted up against the wall so she can't get back there. She hides behind some big Rubbermaid containers in her room.

Yes, they have pulled me into this too...

It gets even cooler. A little over a year ago, we had a black feral show up on our patio, obviously pregnant. My wife, being a sucker for the poor and downtrodden, fed her. Naturally, the feral kept coming back.

We knew Mama had given birth when we didn't see her for a couple of days, and then she came back obviously skinnier. A few weeks later, she brought her kitten by. We were amazed. After feeding them both for a couple of weeks, one day Mama turned on her kitten, and attacked him on our patio. A few shrimp later, and he was heading to the vet. We figured it was simply destiny.

Later on, we caught Mama and another brood of her kittens. They are now on a farm, earning a living as mousers. But that's a different story, for a different time. For now, meet Trey.

"btw, anyone see in2it's vid this week? have had no feedback save for one "can't play it" and no feedback after to know if my suggestions helped"
Yes! I was able to see it! No plot, just "wierd cat moaning"(deduct points for spelling) that looked to be a tortie. Cat was NOT happy! Sound worked & so did video.
Sorry for lack of comments; we were out ALL afternoon for spouse's chorus to sing for a retirement community's 42d annual fish fry. (Fish filets were large & delicious, but the organizers said "no carry out".) So the cats who live here would be angry/disappointed if they knew.
Sorry some of Vanna's mewbies didn't live, but with such a large litter & a smallish mother, that may not have been terribly surprising.
I'm now at the foot of pg 8. Try to catch up, only 79 more posts to see.

toonie roonie: WI Humane sure does believe in fixing them YOUNG don't they? 9 wk old females spayed already --
birdbomb: could hardly believe that ALL the cats who live with you are white! But a) they're all good lookin' & b) they'll be easy to see at night. Mrow!
& now finally, a couple of young cats ...
i32.tinypic.com
tho not as young as customary, for the day. These are 2 of the Gang of 5 that appeared under one of our hedges after last yr's out-of-town vacation. Now they're a year old, they're all still here. Cali is obvious, the tabby is Tori, the one who was separated from Mom too early (she delights in sucking on me).

Sun Khan: Hi there. Just took in this kitty as a rescue and am stumped for a name. (It was kind of embarrassing to bring her to the vet to get her spayed and have "[no name]" called out in the waiting room...) Her coat looks like an oil slick on sand but my derivative from that, Grace Slick, was shot down...Suggestions?

Because you are such a wonderful person to rescue her and give her a chance here are a few suggestions:
SUETTE: Chamoru name meaning "good fortune; luck."
SA'DIA (سعدية): Feminine form of Arabic Sa'di, meaning "lucky."
MONIFA: African Yoruba name meaning "I am lucky." Egyptian name meaning "lucky."

Don't know. Turkish angoras? They are mostly long hair with very bushy tails, like squirrels, main's like a lion and ear tufts.

Oh we see them fine! They romp all over the place at night getting into everything. We have 2 dogs too and both of them are also white both 1/2 poodle, one is 1/2 Maltese and the other 1/2 lhasa apso

After all these years, the Farkatronic text filters never cease to amuse.

Happy Birthday everyone-- If I were a New Yorker, I'd call dibs on cretinbob's calico/torbie mewbie. I've been lurking for quite a while now since my cat just doesn't do anything amusing anymore.

Cretinbob and Domari

Just wanted to say congrats on the new mewbies (super cute!) and I'm sorry to hear 4 didn't make it.
Same with my dads cat - first time momma, had 6 but only two made it but they think it was cause she couldn't produce enough milk for all but they are not sure as no one was home at the time to help her or them.
But they will all meet at the bridge so new friends for all :)

To wit, what the heck IS this?
I thought it might be a margay, but it doesn't match other margay pix I've saved.
It kind of looks like an ocelot picture on the cover of our local Zoo magazine, but only kind of.
Any other thoughts, anyone?
Whatever 'tis, it's definitely wild!

things I do to my cats...: SUCH an amazing cat. what kind IS this?

WANT!

Temporarily de-lurking to say....

That there is an Asian Leopard Cat. :) They are about the size of housecats and shy rather than fierce. They also happen to be the wild stock used to create the Bengal breed, which is a wild/domestic hybrid. (The domestic breeds used originally were Egyptian Mau, Abysinnian, and domestic shorthair).

Some people do keep ALCs and F1-F3 Bengals, but they require the same kinds of special care and engagement that any exotic does.

I know this because I did a ton of research after it became apparent that a rescue kitten my parents adopted was, in fact, a Bengal. He's a charcoal, though, so everyone just thought he was a grey tabby with strangely big paws at first.

Pretty sure it's an ocelot. Maybe it was taken when it was a kitten or it's been shooped a little?

Why was Grace Slick shot down? I think the name is as adorable as the kitten.

We acquired our cat, who had been a parking lot feral, on 09-09-09. Because of that, we named her Abbey Road.

Okay, I'll admit there was one other choice, but there was no way I was calling a cat Yoko Ono.
