We must ban cruise ships and fun and whales of any sort as they are obviously going to completely annihilate the entire known universe. The Obama administration should get on this Immediately.

STOP TRYING TO TAKE PEOPLE'S JOBS AWAY!
These people wait all year for something to happen to an animal that justifies them having a job.

I'll bet the whale didn't have proper navigation lights or running lights.

FTA:

Kaja Brix with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says the animal appears to have been a juvenile humpback whale.

They'll check for drugs and alcohol, and if they find any, there could be charges against the adult whale who provided the contraband.

The ship's captain was too distracted by the stunning view of Russia to notice the whale.

2010-07-29 03:11:15 PM
This sort of thing is far more embarrassing when an aircraft carrier does it, as the Greenpeace folks are often already there to protest some nonsense when they return to port. It is the type of problem that no one can see until a tug pulls alongside with them going slowly... ie not until you're already in port.

Yup, whales are real farkin' smart. It had the whole ocean and it couldn't get out of the way

How's that getting back to nature by riding on floating city that spews thousands of gallons of effluent into pristine waters working for you?

I bet you biatched about the BP leak all the time you were flying at 35000 feet.

In the cruise ship's defense, that bastard whale was not using the bike lane and was going too farking slow.

There was a cable documentary on that. Fascinating story.

There was a WWI saling merchant raider under Kapitänleutnant Felix von Luckner. In 225 days of sailing she captured 15 ships.

I'm embarrassed for anyone who takes those cruises and thinks they are doing their "green" part.
