Feed them enough ice cream and they'll be too fat to commit crimes...or at least too chubby and winded to get away.

I never wanted to pop a cap in anyone's ass while eating my malt cup, so I guess it stands to reason...

so what's on YOUR local ice cream truck?

klondike bar
ice cream sandwich
bomb pop
push-up
choco taco
malt cup
the frozen cone with the gumball in the bottom
chocolate eclair good humor bar
toasted almond good humor bar
strawberry shortcake good humor bar
chipwich
drumstick
nestle crunch bar

This. Maybe if there's a better perception of the law & law enforcement, kids will commit less crimes because they won't feel the need to?

For christsakes, its not hoodies, its HOODSIES. THe little Hood ice cream cups. Tardmitter is Tarded.

Okay, subby, I'll explain this to you, and I'll try to use small words so you understand it: an effective police force has to concern itself with public relations because if the people hate and fear them it is impossible to do their jobs. If the police do nothing but tase people for dubious reasons and shoot unarmed suspects, everyone will avoid them at any cost, and if they can't avoid them they will lie to them. Is this really so difficult to understand? I assume the fail tag refers to you.

2010-07-29 03:23:11 PM
This will go all very wrong the first time a youth wearing Yankees gear approaches one of these ice cream trucks and gets jumped.

2010-07-29 03:23:45 PM
That's not the kind of ice that the kids are looking for.

2010-07-29 03:23:59 PM
how is this considered a fail?

2010-07-29 03:24:32 PM
sounds like a spiffy tag to me

2010-07-29 03:25:43 PM
zjoik: how is this considered a fail?

Apprently if you are good little kids you get ignored, but if you're ignorant little hoodlums you get free ice cream.

2010-07-29 03:25:48 PM
Subby is from New England.

2010-07-29 03:27:05 PM
Apparently Subby would prefer police to go around beating kids and engaging in long-term incarceration for petty offenses.

2010-07-29 03:28:48 PM
/Put it away here comes a cop ice cream truck

2010-07-29 03:28:54 PM
skankboy: Subby is from New England.

He would prefer they handed out hand crafted maple sugar candies and warm wooly mittens then.

2010-07-29 03:29:07 PM
Sounds a little funny at first, but if this actually gets them to interact with civillians without giving them tickets/beatings, it might be a good thing

As long as half of the hoodies are red and the other half are blue, I'm fine with this

"Converting a cruiser into an ice cream truck"

Did you even watch the video, Failmitter?

/This is a good idea

Citrate1007: Apprently if you are good little kids you get ignored, but if you're ignorant little hoodlums you get free ice cream.

i guess i missed the part of the article where it says that. I thought it was directed at youth in general

2010-07-29 03:31:57 PM
The headline doesn't mention Phase 2 of the program: you have to turn in a handgun to get one of the little wooden sticks to eat it with.

This.

Hearts and minds, making a police presence in he community something that isn't immediately antagonistic.

2010-07-29 03:35:40 PM
Great headline, except that they're not converting a cruiser into anything, the ice cream truck is a stock ice cream truck, and they're giving away Hoodsie Cups (the Hood equivalent of Dixie Cups), not hoodies (the garments). But at least the tag was appropriate -- for Subby.

2010-07-29 03:36:32 PM
I don't see why this is an issue. At least they are trying to do something to establish a rapport with the community. The only person I've heard biatch about this is some crazy biatch on talk radio Michelle McPhee or something. She is a miserable woman, with a raging clit-boner for Scott Brown.

i don't see anything that points to that in the article; perhaps a stretch/assumption on subby's behalf.

i think it's a good idea, in the least it reminds the police that its people they're dealing with.

/ran around boston a few years back as a kid, was harassed a bit
/probably because i was an urban camper at the time.

Fail tag is for Subby and everyone who didn't RTFA.

It's hoodSIES (as in the ice cream cups), not hoodies (the jacket sweaters with hoods)

2010-07-29 03:49:36 PM
They should insert tracking devices in the liner of said hoodies.

SUBBY MISSED AN "S"

EVERYONE RAGE

EVEN THOUGH GIVING HOODSIES OR HOODIES TO HOODS (aka HOODLUMS) WOULD MAKE FOR AN EQUALLY FARKWORTHY SUBMISSION.

I think the Fail tag falls squarely on subby's shoulders. This is a bad idea how? Getting kids to interact with cops giving 'em free ice cream before, or even after, being the delinquent lil thugs we all know them to be is great even if it's for no other reason than for perp identification later on.

What I'm saying is that no matter how you look at it can't be a bad idea to have cops interact with kids by giving them something free rather than taking away their freedom. heh.

They're just trying to even the playing field, so a fat cop has a better chance to run down a soon to be fat kid.

"Free hoodies" is better than "free beatdowns"...to me at least.

Fail? More like "Win!"

Getting kids to interact with cops when they're not responding to crisis situations is a great way to alleviate a systemic fear of police.

Seriously a great idea.

Unfortunately the libs in Ann Arbor don't want me to eat ice cream. We get snow here 7 months a year so I guess they figure that's good enough lol. They would rather have signs in arabic than English so I guess that stands to reason. I love a good drumstick though :(

/fark ann arbor and the stadium bridge they haven't fixed in five years while adding skyboxes to the stadium.
