To be completely fair and balanced, all women cheat too.

Pffft. I've never cheated on my mistress.

If she means the type of guy that will f*ck her, yes, they'd probably all cheat.

All men pay for sex. Just not all of them use money.

/does that make all women prostitutes?

It's only cheating if you're caught ...

Huh. Article's not too bad, and actually makes some reasonable recommendations, despite the gender stereotyping.

Example: Don't demand your man never look at pornography, or never assess the attractiveness of another woman. Such things are not going to help him remain faithful.

Another: Negotiate "infidelity" if need be (maybe mild forms like lap dances, or maybe even full-on sex). Dan Savage approves.

/Have never cheated on Mrs. Anomaly
//Too honest to even attempt to hide such things, it'd never work
///Plus I'm, technically speaking, ugly

We don't all cheat. We all THINK about it...

Her point is lost in jumping to conclusions.

It's that:
1) Men are sexual creatures and married women would do well to take this into account
3) By understanding both their sexual needs, she empowers herself

You can kind of ignore everything else she says.

Guess I'm not a man then. I love my wife, and honor the commitment I made to her. That affords me certain... benefits.

Not true. All men do consider it, however. Most just watch some pr0ns and get it "out of their system."

I've never cheated, not on my girl friends or when I was married. My biatch of an ex-wife on the other hand cheated with at least three people, one female, after forcing me to get married in a church and proclaim the standard vows.

Silly biatch, if she wanted an open marriage she should have negotiated on open marriage, but noooo she just could not ever be honest, not once, about her needs or desires.

What we or most of us practice is serial monogamy. In other words, its one at a time. True monogamy is practiced by the truly lucky and devout, as well as parrots. What we consider an exclusive relationship is nothing more than a viewing of of our time inefficient polygamist lifestyle.

Anyone who's had one partner in their entire life, you're the true definition of monogamy, and you're a rare and albeit dying breed.

2010-07-29 11:11:11 AM
FTFA: I would say 100 percent of men cannot be mentally monogamous, in that they are biologically programmed to assess the sexual attractiveness of every single woman they see.

True.

Some women would consider that "cheating." Dr. Laura, bless her weird ultra-right-wing heart, doesn't. She considers it normal male behavior, especially if it's in response to being frozen out in the bedroom.

\Ye gawdz, did I just reveal that I listen to that stupid show?

How to deal with the later position is also a subject for debate: Should we encourage men to fight their supposed urge toward infidelity, or should we instead accommodate (and accept) their uncontrollable want for wandering?

Yes yes yes yes yes!

Just because I love you, Ms. Chicken Burrito, doesn't mean I don't want to stick my dick in a hamburger every now and then

2010-07-29 11:12:05 AM
The one thing I never could quite understand about cheating (especially if there are no children in the relationship) is why go through all the trouble and work to give the appearance that you are faithful to this person when you can dump them and move on?

Like the saying goes "One man cannot serve two masters." So either be committed to being monogamous with 1 person at a time, or live your life being uncommitted to anyone and enjoy the hedonism.

Believe me there are more than enough people on this planet who fall into either category.

2010-07-29 11:12:17 AM

You need to be in a relationship to cheat.

I think you should start cheating.

Unless you're married, there is no such thing as cheating. Did you make a vow never to be with another? No?
Then it's not "cheating" unless you specifically made that agreement together.

amazing_live_seamonkeys: Not true. All men do consider it, however. Most just watch some pr0ns and get it "out of their system."

I've thought about this in the context of polygraphs: What if someone were to ask me, "Have you ever thought about cheating on your wife", what's the honest answer. Depends on your definition of "cheating" I guess.

Does fantasizing about a Lauren Graham/Leah Remini 3-way count? If so, guilty. (Mrs. Anomaly is OK with this, because those women are "unattainable". Little does she know I consider all women "unattainable".)

I'm sure mentally planning out a liason with a hot co-worker, who finds me attractive (hey, it's a fantasy), making up cover stories, etc. would count. Haven't done that though.

/Lots of gray area in between. Discuss amongst yourselves.

Cheating is any activity that your partner considers to be cheating, no more, no less.

Not to say everyone is reasonable about this.

/Talking to another woman is cheating? Yeah, good luck with that

It takes 2 to cheat.

Unless all guys cheating are gay... I'm pretty sure some women are involved too.

I read it. It patronizingly characterizes men as unthinking apes with wallets and throbbing dicks who can barely focus long enough to not fark everything, and thus it's up to women to cater to our genetic, uncontrollable urges since we obviously cannot control ourselves from our biological imperative.
