You're off your meds again, subby, aren't you?

No way that's even close to deserving your opprobrium. I'd go back and look up the word gestalt too if I were you.

I'll admit the transition between mandolin and synthesizers is a little startling but overall the song was deservedly part of a multi-platinum album.

2010-07-28 03:45:52 PM
Subby, you suck, and this song rocks. There is no better way to get my contemporaries to dance at a wedding than by putting this one on.

2010-07-28 04:06:25 PM
Yeah, the video's not great, but that's a damn good song. How can this be a worse video than We Built this City or Right Now?

that video and song define "suck" BUT i thought it was going to be the song and video for that song 'we can dance if we want to..blahblah"

i am disappoint.

2010-07-28 06:31:33 PM
God Damn It!!!

I was expecting to see Hooters girls.

Not the band The Hooters.

You suck.

2010-07-28 06:40:50 PM
as someone who saw the hooters a few times before subby was probably born, i have 2 things to say.

1 - shut your whore mouth
2 - get off my lawn!

I dunno, Will To Power's "Baby, I Love Your Way/Freebird Medley" is about as bad as it gets for song/video combo. At least for songs that charted (#1, even).

2010-07-28 06:58:54 PM
I for one find that song to laughably bad.

2010-07-28 07:04:20 PM
yes to the subby and article writer...eateth thou thine bag of dicks...

Nowhere near the worst song/video/band from the 80's. Too lazy to reference what is...

/subby meet bag

Fark. A magical place where Radiohead sucks, Oasis is the worst band in the history of pop, but The Hooters rock like few have rocked before.

2010-07-28 07:48:21 PM
Laugh all you want, but the 80s were the high point of Western Civilization. It's been all downhill since.

2010-07-28 07:53:38 PM
Whatchu talkin bout Willis?! That was a great song dammit!

I hate the goofy way musicians pose, but the Hooters don't posture any worse than most musicians do. And there are far worse videos -- anything with dry ice smoke, for instance.

2010-07-28 08:11:58 PM
I have seen worse

I just love how the fat chick gets the guy to spill the sodas with her "wanna BJ?" look.

Good God, people - the Hooters blew like Hurricane Katrina. They sucked like a Dyson set on overdrive. They eat shiat. They were the worst band of the 80s, narrowly beating out The Outfield. WTF is wrong with you people?

/not kidding. I hated The Hooters then, I hate them worse now.

2010-07-28 09:01:55 PM
The Hooters?

I remember them. They were one of those groups - The Cardigans come to mind, too - that music critics kept telling the public to buy, Buy BUY! because their music because it was soooooo awesome.

Yeah, about that: just one more lie.

2010-07-28 09:08:07 PM
They opened for "Live Aid".

And yes, off my lawn.

Before clicking link, ooooh let me take a wild stab at this one. Hmmmmmmmmmm, a real shot in the dark here, "Rock Me Tonight"?

I'll join the support for the Hooters. Saw them a few years back and they still put on a great show. They didn't just end in the 80s. In fact, they just released a new EP for those interested.

Mini Ditka: LawrencePerson: Aren't you forgetting the video that ended Billy Squier's career?

What else could it have been? ;-]

By the way, I was much more of an Iron Maiden, Van Halen, Ratt, general 80's metal kind of guy, but I can't hate on this song. I find myself much more accepting and nostalgic of stuff I didn't care for at the time.

Yes, the video is pretty bad but they got away with a lot of shiat in the 80's. Music videos were new and exciting and that one passed as perfectly normal at the time because the song was a hit. There are certainly much more horrible examples of 80's videos.

I got fired after I booked them for a Susan G. Komen fundraiser.

Put me in the Hooters Defense column. Great band with great songs. That video was shot at the Exton Drive-In, great place to see a movie when it was open.

2010-07-28 11:03:50 PM
No matter how hard I try, I can't not tap my foot to this song. I don't know any of their other work, but this is a great song.

Marla Singer's Laundry: You guys like crap.

Personally, I've never denied liking so-called "Crap." It's all subjective. I think Muse and M.I.A. and Nickelback are crap, whereas others like them. Just like I think The Hooters, Arcade Fire, and Huey Lewis & The News are all great.

Anyway. Geddy Lee is 57 on 7/29/10, so we need some Rush. Am I right, people? (new window)

eddievercetti: I WAS PROMISED HOOTERS! NOT A STUPID 80s BAND!

First off THIS

Then, it wasn't a good video, but not full of suck either. Thought the one blonde singer looked like Henry Winkler's illegitimate half-brother.

Also sort of cool to remember when actually went to drive inns.. Rarely just to watch a movie tho lol

I went back and watched that video in its entirety for the first time in 20+ years, thanks to your link ;-). That is gayer than Richard Simmons and Liberace taking turns tossing Merv Griffin's salad.

/wow

Pretty cheesy, but, seems to still be an arms length away from the cheese of such things like Journey's video for "Separate Ways".

I immediately thought "Is it 'Rock Me Tonight'?" and it was.

At least there is a story to the video not just a bunch of guys standing around frowning at their expensive 'lifestyle' and holding up their jewelry.

Thanks for the memories subby. Video not so great, but song still Rocks!
