As long as the Led Zeppelin classic is "Stairway to Heaven." Because that's, like, the greatest song EVAR.

He said the next step for Pandora would be "getting into cars and into electronic devices at home."

My blu-ray player already has a Pandora function. It's pretty cool. Now if only I can get my blu-ray player to stop losing internet connection. That's what I get for buying refurbished units, I guess.

Unless, of course, your hot friend strolls by to see what you're doing. In that case, prepare to enjoy Bryan Adams, Creed, and Hanson, followed by a Britney Spears classic.

Coming up, you pressing the "scan" button, stopping on an ironic song to laugh at with your friends - then awkwardly listening to the rest of the song.

I ain't gonna listen to none of that crap on Pandora. Everybody* knows that the only good music was made between 1965 and 1980 by long haired white guys with Marshall amps.

*"Everybody", of course, being the philistines on the Fark.com music tab.

"OK, we've got a call on the request line and who am I speaking to?"
"My name's Will Junior"
"And what do you do Will Junior?"
"Well, I unclog the toilets at the head shop."
"And what can I play for ya?"
"Well, how about a block a' the Blahs dudee?"
"Sorry, just played a block of the Blahs for the guys at the sandal store"
"Aw, man, well, how about a block a' Fleetwood Mac?"
"We just played a block of Fleetwood Mac for the guys at the granola factory."

Amen. And it even plays nicely with the turn-by-turn GPS on my Droid. Music cuts out, GPS directions play through the car speakers, music resumes. And even if I streamed it nonstop I'd still stay below Verizon's 5GB cap.

I'd like it if it loaded more often. Maybe it doesn't like Chrome, but I've been using the site for 45 minutes and have had to reload out of perpetual "loading" screens a dozen times already.

Also, there are like 8 variable entries for "LCD Soundsystem"

I generally use it with Firefox. The only problems I have are occasional songs that won't load up.

When I'm listening to a multi-movement piece it can get annoying.

Stumbled across this (new window) today and fell in love.

Pandora is fantastic, but I think this might just be my new favorite.

I have to say that I have a love hate relationship with Pandora. Their classic/hard mix has WAY too much AC/DC and the Indie/Alternative WAY too much Death Cab...However, the Texas Blues and Delta Blues are excellent, the Celtic rock is really good (but can get redundant) and I found a Cajun/Zydeco channel that has a damn good mix.

All alternative rock leads to Death Cab on Pandora

Last time I checked, Pandora let you make your own stations and customize what you listened to by removing bands and songs you didn't like from your personal station. They still do that, right? So what's the problem?

I have found this out...Way too little Silversun Pickups, National, Duke Spirit etc...their idea of 'indie' is way too Poppy

I give Pandora One about 2 hours of play each day, typically while I'm smoking up or browsing the web. I farking love it!

You do realize how Pandora works, right? You tell it what you like, and if it plays WAY too much of something then tell it to cut it the fark out and it will listen. The thumbs up/thumbs down buttons have helped to refine several channels that played too much of the "wrong" stuff. Hell, I think every channel I create suggests Jack Johnson ('60s rock, jam bands, roots rock, alt country, punk) and I just tell Pandora that I don't want him on that station either.

THIS and THAT.

I really like Grooveshark, but the loading issues and their search engine keep it from becoming a perfect relationship.

I'd use Pandora more if the music were more varied. I have kind of eclectic tastes(*) and when I whittle down Pandora to what I like I find that it tends to repeat stuff waaaaay too often. Attempts to broaden out always seem to lead me to hitting the "I hate" button over and over. It also doesn't seem to be able to realize that while I like some metal, cookie monster vocal is an instant turn off for me.

Last.fm is better for variety, at least with my stuff, and I've managed to train it to ignore cookie monster bands. Too bad that Last.fm's player is a steaming pile of crap- there's no pause, it's pretty much requires a reload if you hit stop and it won't even load about half the time.

/* Hands up everyone who likes Devin Townsend, Indukti, Shadow Gallery and Fate's Warning

I even get it on my TV. There is a Pandora channel on my Roku box. Also a Break.com, Youtube, Facebook pictures, and other website channels. I love my Roku. Only $99. Get it. This is not a commercial.

I gotta go with Grooveshark over Pandora. Pandora is a cool idea, but I can't think of a single band it turned me onto over the year or so that I used it. Grooveshark has the advantage allowing me to listen to Devo's Jocko Homo when I choose.

I use them both depending on my mood.

Grooveshark for playlists if I want a particular artist or album, Pandora for more of a radio feel where I get stuff I haven't heard before, or stuff I have but more randomly.

If Pandora hasn't turned you on to new music, you're not using it correctly.

It's been a couple of years since I tried using it. It sure played some bands and music I never heard before, but it never showed me anything that I really enjoyed. It seems like a digitized version of my friends turning me onto new stuff without the rate of success. For example, a buddy of mine got me to listen to The Kink's "A Soap Opera" and I fell in love with it, so I then got "Village Green" and a couple of other albums.

love pandora...

Have it set to Depeche Mode radio and listen all day long...
Every once in awhile, it will play Simon and Garfunkel or Van Morrison, but that is fine with me.

paid the whole $36 for the year... totally worth it

2010-07-28 04:48:56 PM
oh let me also say due to Sirius screwing up in a big way I just got the next year of service for $16. So i will be abusing that pretty heavily since i was going to cancel but they offered some deal to me then incorrectly charged it but still gave the full year credit.
