no, it couldn't happen again, that day was a total fluke.....everyone just happened to be drunk that day and actually in a pretty good mood (we've since voted republican several times to make sure it never happens again).

That song did pretty well for them, though. They just put different lyrics to it, changed a handful of notes, and wrung all the rest of their hits out of it.

Is this the part of the thread when some old farker shows up and rants, "This song sux just as badly as it did 29 years ago, but it blows away any of the auto-tuned shiat that hits #1 nowadays"?

Actually, 29 years later, it sucks as badly as the auto-tuned crap that passes off for music today, but it wouldn't be played on the same station as the auto-tuned crap of today.

/Never liked Air Supply

I'm ashamed to say it, but Air Supply Greatest Hits (80's version) was my go-to afterbar album in college.

It worked like gangbusters, but this was back in '87.

True... terrestrial radio, despite the competition from satellite & iPods, is still valiantly finding new and exciting ways to suck out loud, regardless the music genre.

I'm not sure where this song could hope to get any airplay nowadays, but thinking about it just makes me think of dentist's offices and elevators. Oh wait-- elevators don't have music anymore. Hm... I've got nothing.

/had a momentary interest the first time I heard "All Out of Love", but then I sobered up.

BTW msannomaley, your bio-- yeah, reminds me of an old runnin buddy of mine whose initals were DVS.

listen subby...the "80's" were, unlike your mother, very tight.

-you obviously didn't deserve to be born then.

air supply was for the twerps and dillrods.

like rap is for you kids today.

Fortunately, I was born the week before, when the #1 song was still "Bette Davis Eyes."

That is fortunate, right? Right?

That is going right on my iPod now. Miss that beautiful harmony.........NO I WILL NOT PUT THAT JACKET ON!

I usually don't pay much attention to the whole Heavy Metal Sunday routine, but I gotta say I don't think there's anything that will be able to make up for having started the day's music tab with Air Supply.

Listening to Duran Duran right now. Still f*cking awesome.

Let's see,

They played instruments...

No backup dancers...

No autotune...

so, yeah, it may be crap, but it's still better than the crap today.

You all can probably thank my mom for that...she was (is) an Air Supply fan and was also hugely pregnant that week.

Seeing as how I've taken pills, and turned off Air's Symptoms Premiers for this, I think this is pretty. Also all of Equador loves Air Supply.

Every generation has had good music and bad music. Music is so immense that you really can't say that x decade is better than y decade.

The problem with (C)rap that passes as music today is that you will not have sex if you are listening to it. You see, 29 years ago, you go out to the bar, wait 15 minutes before last call and then scramble to pick up some easy drunk chick. And if the DJ were playing this song, you knew you were going to get lucky.

Now? What are you going to slow dance too? Some freaked rap song? I may be old, but I do yearn for the good old days before AIDS when you could have sex and only worry about crabs and stuff without having to die because you were having sex with the previous 100 people that the drunk chick was having sex with before you.

Air Supply hate is like hating on Bon Jovi. You want to sound cool because you're dissing the greatest band/group of its generation, but you just come off like a jealous tool.

All out of Love
Making Love out of Nothing at All
Even the Nights are Better

These are great songs, and Air Supply is a great group.

2010-07-25 09:31:39 AM
Lyrically, I don't have a problem with Air Supply songs, but seriously, they should have considered hiring a female singer for the band.

They would have had a longer career had they done so.

And the first few lines of singing still sound like a woman with a deep voice as opposed to a man with a high voice.

Yeah, if you're taste in music runs on the white bread bland side. I prefer to listen to music that doesn't induce a coma.

Or make you want to puke and/or punch someone.

Punk rock and metal didn't make people violent in the '80s; middle of the road schmaltzy crap did.

Why some people shouldn't attempt humour (example number 300 million).

In seriousness, I tend to avoid such places. I'm getting better at it as my life nears its conclusion.

I'm quite acutely aware that I was born with a malfunctioning humour circuit. I've always been quite adept at recognizing and appreciating it however I just can't dispense it worth anything resembling a good goddamn.

(Some [folks] have got to know [and thus work around] their limitations).

That's why I mainly lurk here.

I've been exposed to the work of Air Supply enough to know that I hope never to be exposed to it again.
Their numbers are nefariously catchy. Have had their pabulum caught in my inner brain's echo chamber far too many times in my life. Hate it with a passion when that occurs.
I have never chosen and will never choose to listen to their music on my own.

Air Supply played in my hometown early 80's. A friend of mine had a sister who worked for the hotel all the acts stayed at--it was attached to the arena--and she had a concierge like reputation for being able to get the bands what they needed. What the Air Supply guys needed was a couple eight balls. It didn't increase my respect for them, or make me think they were cool in any way, but it certainly made coke less attractive to me. So much so that five years later I quit doing it forever.

Ta-Da
