(YouTube) Cool In 1982, Survivor topped the charts and remained there for six weeks with their huge hit "Eye of the Tiger." No matter what you think of Rocky or the 80s, it's still an awesome song   (youtube.com) divider line 49

When ever I see that said, I think of a huge warehouse and then a squeal-ish noise, "TMLO report to thread 5505804". Then TMLO's head pops out from stacks of DVD's and he get's on an electric cart and it purrs over to the thread.

I don't know I think that, and why I only think it about TMLO.

Personally?

I always thought "The Search is Over" was Survivor's best song. THAT'S the song Rocky needed in his corner during his personal endeavor to end the Cold War (TM) singlehandedly.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I'm not going to comment on whether or not the scenario you laid out was true, but - just for the sake of argument - if it's NOT true, I would go to great lengths to acquire a large warehouse, the siren/PA system, AND the electric cart.

I *heart* that mental image to no end.

If it's not already true and things aren't already like that, I mean...

Fat and weak, what a disgrace.
Guess the champ got too lazy.
Ain't gonna fly now, he's just takin' up space.
Sold his gloves, threw his eggs down the drain.

But he's no bum, he works down the street
He bought the neighborhood deli.
Back on his feet, now he's choppin' up meat.
Come inside, maybe you'll hear him say,

Try the rye or the kaiser,
They're our special tonight.
If you want, you can have an appetizer
You might like our salami and the liver's alright
And they'd really go well with the rye or the kaiser

Never eats while on the job,
He heard it's good to stay hungry
But he makes a pretty mean shish kebab
Have a taste, they were made fresh today

Try the rye or the kaiser
Or the wheat or the white
Maybe I can suggest an appetizer
Stay away from the tuna, it smells funny tonight
But you just can't go wrong with the rye or the kaiser

So today, his deli comes first
Still he dreams of his past days of glory
Goes in the back and beats up on the liverwurst
All the while you can still hear him say,

It's the rye or the kaiser
It's the thrill of one bite
Let me please be your catering advisor.
If you want substitutions,
I won't put up a fight.
You can have your roast beef on the rye or the kaiser.

The rye or the kaiser..... (repeat)

Mentat: The rye or the kaiser..... (repeat)

And THIS is why I'm so pleased that "In 3-D" was the first album that I ever purchased with my own money.

And yet the Fark music tab has become a repository for 80's music videos. I wonder why that is.

With the montage that flashbacks from the first movie all the way up to the beginning of the montage.

On general principle, I *should* dislike any changes or amendments to the original video.

The chipmunkfied audio, however... I can live with that.

I clearly remember when this movie/song came out, I was the impressionable age of 13 or 14. There was a whole bunch of new wave and other one-hit wonders all over the radio. I dug most of it, hell I even thought Bonnie Whatever-Her-Name-is was cool when she screeched out 'Total Eclipse of the Heart'. I mean, imagine some chick getting that emotional about some relationship, I dug that.

But this song just sucked. I understood the 'gets you pumped up dude' thing that was attached to it, a bunch of my friends decieded it got them all psyched up, but I just did't get it. They were too artificial, too obvious. Same as the song they did for Karate Kid. It was like KMart-sponsored inspiriation. Cheesola.

Luckily I had older brothers who got me into stuff like the CLash and I could get all pumped up to 'White Riot' and other 3-chord fury.
