traylor: I clicked on the embedded video and it said "This video has been removed by the user"

Pls fix it KTHXBYE.

Phil's most recent twitter:

"Bad Universe YouTube trailer taken down temporarily to fix something. Should be back up soon. Sorry about that!"

The idea here is not to have some dry, narrated documentary.

So why are you doing it?

Kidding. I'll DVR it...

2010-07-23 05:19:24 PM
Please actually base your ideas off of, you know, SCIENCE. Don't be like the other guys on TV. Please?

Smash Lab particularly pissed me off, because I was expecting people who knew a thing or two about general physics/civil engineering, but apparently that was not happening...

2010-07-23 05:32:59 PM
Can't wait to see this. And I'll watch when it's broadcast.

puffy999: Please actually base your ideas off of, you know, SCIENCE.

If the show is like the badastronomy blog? No worries.

but apparently that was not happening...

Let's not speak of Smash Labs shall we? ;)

Congrats Phil! This looks like it should be pretty interesting. A shame it's only a 3-parter though...

/hope it's popular enough to get you a regular gig on the network, should you want it

The Bad Astronomer: Thanks everyone! And sure, DVR it, but make sure you watch the commercials and buy all the fine products advertised on The Discovery Channel.

What about the Discovery Channel Canada? Will it be airing there concurrently, or are we going to have to wait several months like we do for Mythbusters?

Hey I like that guy! Awesome news.

2010-07-23 07:20:24 PM
Awesome, I'll be watching. Hopefully they pick it up as a series afterward. They could use some more good, new programming (besides Mythbusters.)

Do you have pics of said cutie?

coasterdigi: Is it just me, or does the cartoon version of Phil look a lot like Dr. Venture?

Spot on!

And congrats to Phil. You're a scholar and a gentleman, sir.

Cheers, Phil, and best of luck to ya!

So I can expect it to be moved to the Science Channel (what Discovery used to be, and TLC was before that) after a few episodes, once the population calls in and demands 5 more hours per day of Deadliest Catch re-runs?

Yay, Phil! We will absolutely watch your show at my house!

We already have a Ford truck, but you can tell the suits at Discovery Channel that we bought it in 2006 only because we saw it advertised on Discovery and the dealer assured us that you would be getting a show.

I think you have to be Mike Rowe's biatch to stay on Discovery.

Video farked already?

2010-07-23 08:45:09 PM
FTA: [UPDATE: D'oh! There was a problem with the video, and Discovery is in the process of fixing it. It should be back up soon.]

A newer version can't be swapped out for the old YouTube url...

Awesome I was afraid that that show that was impossible to DVR was the sooper sekrit project and I felt bad for not being able to follow. I shall watch this with great interest - and buy 4 of everything advertised :)

CONGRATS BA!

Lampmonster: see if you can pitch my idea for a show. It'll be a reality show where they follow me around the world while I visit bars, prostitutes and gambling establishments in different countries. I call it:

"Hey, Let's Follow This Guy With Our Camera."

Dave Attell already did that show, but I don't think he left the country in the course of his adventures. Maybe Tijuana or something like that.

I just threatened to post this if he didn't. I even gave him a head start.

IdBeCrazyIf: Grats phil

Just make sure on your Alien episode you cover the whole aliens come to earth and die from a staph infection.

In the BA world the aliens are already here disguised as antivaxers.

Adjective Bird Whiskey: Congratulations. They keep rejecting my show pitch. Spastic Colon: The Body's Final Wilderness.

Don't feel bad. They keep passing on my pitch, "Gravity: Satan's Tool".

But congrats to you, Phil! Let me know if you need a geeky redhead to be in the background!

/Every science show needs a geeky redhead
//Just ask the Mythbusters guys!
