My guess with 30K of city driving you are in need of a clutch.

  2012-09-06 11:19:09 AM
Clutch is easy, I put one in this bike when I first got it. The guy at the store set the clutch too tight and it wore out (nothing like doing 25mph on a highway all of a sudden) so I replaced it myself (it was cheap, easy and I didn't feel like arguing with the store about it)..

That guy, Brad at Superbike sold it to me, BTW

Very cool, I think I would try changing out the clutch again. And stop doing wheelies and burn outs you clutches will last longer.

Wow never seen one of these then again never meet anyone who needed one. But if Keith Code recommends it then I would have to try it. I know of sport bikes with 50K on them that have been thrashed to near death that have never needed anything like this.

I gotta count how many times I have to find neutral on the trip into work. It gets worse when the bike warms up too. Where you live your probably on the highway in 2 minutes and once you shift into top gear that's it, right?

Were the second worst city for traffic I can barely get into third gear half the time. You can sit in traffic here in the middle of the night on a Sunday. It's so farking bad I leave for work at 5:10 in the morning. We don't even use distance when someone asks us how far away something is. I would take NYC traffic any day of DC traffic.

  2012-09-07 09:13:12 AM
over DC traffic.

  2012-09-07 09:16:49 AM
But to help your argument I use second gear 90% of the time and just hold the clutch in at stops. Nice thing about having a bigger twin is starting in second is not an issue.

  2012-09-07 09:21:37 AM
so, knob, i shouldn't get a motorcycle?

i was looking at triumphs (google, not to the point where i've thought about going to a dealer yet)

  2012-09-07 10:38:35 AM
I think you're more of a scooter kinda guy.

  2012-09-07 10:49:28 AM

Well, he could get one of the smaller Triumph cafe-style bikes.

Meds on a motorcycle? Lord I've heard everything.

  2012-09-07 01:53:49 PM
Knob, would you rather buy a 4 year old motorcycle with 750 miles or 5000 miles on it?

  2012-09-07 01:55:08 PM
hi jax, for learning?

Ruffian: Well, he could get one of the smaller Triumph cafe-style bikes.

that's what i was considering

  2012-09-07 03:00:23 PM
Yeah, I'm actually thinking of getting a small bike. I'm thinking that a really low mileage one is probably worse than one with typical mileage after a few years.

  2012-09-07 03:39:11 PM
don't think it matters, change the oil and throw some plugs in there and you're probably fine, it's just starting out it's probably gonna hit the ground a few times for a variety of reasons, get something cheap
you don't mind farking up....if you really enjoy it: get a really nice one (you're rich)...if you hate it: give it away and call it a day.

Hi, beautiful people. You, too, Jax.

Jaxom: Knob, would you rather buy a 4 year old motorcycle with 750 miles or 5000 miles on it?

It all depends lot's of folks buy a bike get scared then it sits for ever because one day they are really going to ride and tare shiat up. I would just check for dry rot on hoses and such. If it has 4 year old gas your going to have to clean the carbs if it's fuel injected you going to want someone to check out the fuel system. But like knob said it really does not matter. Also just check for signs that has been sitting it should be dusty flat spots on tires.

Oh one thing I would do for absolute certain sense they have been sitting is get new tires. Other than thrash that biatch it is what I would do :)

Getting to go back to CMP where I crashed in OCT I am going to ass rape that track. Knee dragging everywhere!!
