Well, in my family we've already had 2 motorcycle deaths. Don't know how scooters would be much different.

First cousin had a harley tricycle. Rear wheel hit the curb at 35 mph. Dead on impact. Another first cousin slid out on leaves in a corner. Dead two days later. I rode when I was younger but it is just too stupid now.

Yeah, there's that aspect of it too. Body parts don't tend to heal as fast or thoroughly after you hit 35 or so. Luckily for me, I'm an educated rider with above average situational-awareness. Learned my lesson long ago.
