(The State)   Alvin Greene's skills at filing were so poor the USAF deemed him a hinderence to the war effort and did not deploy him. Subby wonders if this means he is more qualified to be South Carolina's next Senator?   (thestate.com) divider line 104

I almost feel sorry for the guy. Whoever his people are, it seems like they're essentially making fun of the mentally challenged. What is to be gained here? He's not going to beat Demint.

2010-07-23 11:42:49 AM
In one interview, he suggested the state's economy could be improved by making and selling action figures depicting him in his uniform.

goddamnitsomuch!

The sad thing is, I am part of this particular problem as my vote was cast for Alvin Greene in this year's primaries. I know I should have paid more attention to the candidates, but Democrats in SC have learned not to take state primaries (or state general elections, for that matter) too seriously.. Still, I suck.

I'm sure we've all been there. And in your defense, there wasn't any way for you to learn about the guy beforehand.

2010-07-23 11:54:41 AM
It's unfortunate he ran as a Democrat, or he'd have large groups of people defending him from the "gotcha" liberal MSM and praising his incompetence as "folksy".

2010-07-23 12:46:27 PM
God I hope the people of SC send a message to Washington by voting for Alvin.

2010-07-23 01:36:09 PM
I hope he wins. Can't be any worse than the current crop of dem-o-rats.

2010-07-23 01:37:13 PM
I would like to see this poor guy win and I would like to be looking at DeMint's face when he gets the news.

2010-07-23 01:37:56 PM
I can't wait till this guy destroys his republican competition. Do it for the lulz SC.

Headso: I can't wait till this guy destroys his republican competition. Do it for the lulz SC.

This. Congress is already porked. Can you imagine the hilarity that would ensue when he gets the mic on the Senate floor?

I know I'm not the only one but this whole story fascinates and baffles the shiat out of me. I watched his first press conference 3 times in a row, the whole time thinking, "This can't be real life." I can't get enough of this weirdo.

2010-07-23 01:43:50 PM
Really? We're going to drag another guy's honorable service to his country through the mud?

What makes this all the more annoying is that less than 1 pct of the population even bothers to try.

I hope his filing wasn't as bad as subby's spelling.

The mentally handicapped need representation too.

But he'd be replacing a Republican, and you wouldn't want that.

Digging up dirt on Alvin Greene, huh?

You Republitards must be scared.

Is this some kind of meta-troll?

"I hope he beats the Republican, DeMint, so he can show the lib'ruls how bad they are and thus aren't able to beat Republicans."

/well something along those lines, but with worse grammar and more DERP

Have you met winterwhile before? He may very well be the worst poster on the Fark politics tab, and that's saying something.

Maybe he and Rep. "I'm afraid Guam will tip over" can start their own caucus.

Sweet Lincoln's mullet! That could be one of the greatest telvised events of all time. It would be the ultimate reality show.

Bad reviews by the Air Force? Now that's just sad.

TripSixes: I hope his filing wasn't as bad as subby's spelling.

Saw that too, and I was wondering if he was a bad pilot or the worst clerk ever. I was surprised to find it was the latter...

The records, which document his superiors' decisions to pass over Greene for promotion, cite mistakes as severe as improperly uploading sensitive intelligence information to a military server, and as basic as an overall inability to clearly express his thoughts and perform basic tasks.

If this guy gets elected the lobbyist will absolutely *love* him. They'll be able to talk him into doing just about anything.

Not that it matters, but TFA doesn't mention filing.

2010-07-23 01:53:01 PM
FTFA:

"usually capable of handling mundane tasks with supervision" but is "not able to adapt to any changes to daily routine,"

Sadly, this does not disqualify him from becoming a member of congress

Greene's job had little to do with intelligence analysis and more to do with shredding documents and escorting contractors lobbyists around the baseSenate.

A perfect fit, his shredding of documents expertise may make him indispensable to other senators and representatives.

"required a daily to-do list" to perform basic duties and had a "consistent inability to follow instructions or maintain basic job knowledge."

If his constituents give him the daily "to-do" list SC could be well represented.

Seriously though, these Forrest Gump types usually get weeded out through High-year tenure (an inability to advance to the next pay-grade within a specific time frame) and it sounds like 'ol Alvin ran into this problem at year 13 in the AF.

If memory serves, when I was in the USN an E-4 with > 10 years of service wasn't allowed to re-enlist. If it was known that a Gump was a lifer and WAS WELL LIKED, the local command usually was able to CAP them to the next pay-grade. I guess Alvin was not only dim, but surly too.

I have, but this seems like a new level, even for him/it. GatoLibbyRandomYoMammaHerup has nothing on him/it.

That's filing in military speak.

And yet I'm STILL not sure who'd be the better Senator.

Not all 13 years were with the AF. He entered the AF, made it to Airman First Class, and was involuntarily separated. He then joined the Army National Guard, then the regular Army to make those 13 years.

Also, you have to fark up pretty badly to be passed over for Senior Airman. It's pretty much a time in service/time in grade promotion.

He seems like a nice guy. I like him.

But what ever possessed him to run for senate? Why did he think he could do the job?

Just watched about 5 seconds of one of his speeches. I would actually vote for this retard over any republican at the moment.

I can only conclude that someone put him up to it and offered run the show. What I can't figure out for the life of me is who, and to what end.

He may be the most accurate representation of the Democrats' demographic base since, well, ever.

For that reason alone, he should at least get some sort of czar position. Maybe Obama can offer him one if he backs out of the race?

There's still the matter of the silver lining of the speech he gave where it showed a grasp of the issues that eludes Demint. Sure the guy might be lost cause, but he already appears to be more able than the man the people of SC will send back to represent their interests. Hmmm... that sounded more silver liningy in my head.... Better luck next time?
