Considering that Stephen Fry is gay...

I kinda imagine Hugh walking off the show.

Amber Tamblyn is going to House? That's pretty cool.

The rest of this story is horseshiat.

The former crew member bringing the lawsuit forth says he was [...] fired because he wouldn't participate in any of the "degenerate conduct."

I'm going to go with "unlikely" on this one.

I never understood the appeal of all these doctor shows. People spend their lives trying to stay out of a hospital. Why would someone want to watch a show about doctors and hospitals for entertainment?

I'm not a fan of those shows normally. House is interesting because House is an interesting character and the situations in the stories are always unusual...weird conditions and diseases..a mystery as much as a hospital show.

EXACTLY.

People watch medical shows for the same reason they watch lawyer show. In the vast majority of the episodes the good guys win and the bad guys get punished. It's nice to think of the world as a balance place.

That and the women are HOT!

I used to watch House before prepping to raid heal. I dunno why...it just put me in the right frame of mind.

So the set of House is pretty much like real life?

Yeah, basically every person in that show is pretty darned attractive. I don't do dudes, but I can see Hugh Laurie as being a bit heart-throbby. Especially as the Prince Regent!

It's more of a medical mystery procedural. They actually based the character on Sherlock Holmes.

The article makes the plaintiff sound like a looser that no one would want to be friends with.

This will go to trial and it will appear as if all is lost and they will lose the case. But at the very last moment while doing some trivial task, a lightbulb will go off in the defense attorney's head and they will win the case because of some obscure, rarely used law.

And that in a nutshell is every episode of House.

/still watch the show though

Universal -- which produces 'House M.D.' -- had no comment.

UPDATE: A rep for NBC Universal tells TMZ, "The lawsuit is without merit."

The allegations are pretty extreme and ridiculous, and definitely set off my bullshiat meter. But, on the other hand are they more extreme and ridiculous than the shiat Phil Spector actually did and got away with for decades?

Odds of a cash-grab lawsuit are high, but hardly a sure thing.

Degenerate conduct in Hollywood? Surely you must be joking!

Maybe the plaintiff can go find a home on Glee, something tells me there isn't a lot of homophobia extant on that set, just a House like hunch.

This. The show could be about any subject, it really doesn't have to be about a hospital. House could be a cop, or a lawyer, or a corporate raider, or some kind of engineering consultant, or a plumber. It's about House solving problems and being a misanthrope.

The medical backdrop is just background.

Every time the phrase "homophobic slur" comes up in this context, I immediately want to slap the fark out of the person whining about it. I'd be willing to bet money someone said "fag," and people who aren't grasping for a justification for their butthurt understand there's a version of that word that has nothing to do with gay people, and everything to do with someone you think is a total doucher.

You forgot where the lead attorney is certain that the other lawyers misread the lawsuit and must have missed something (maybe it's just something small like a decimal point in the amount) and has them re-read the entie lawsuit again, but they come to the same conclusion...

Nothing set off my bullshiat meter, but mostly because I know what it's like to be an extra on film and tv sets, and I know what it's like to be a theater kid. I think you're full of BS to say this stuff is not happening.

That said, anyone who works in performance arts of any sort know that they should expect a lot of unethical awesomeness to happen. lawsuits will not rein in the art community. And you have to do some pretty nasty shiat to be actually shunned and booted off of a job. usually you either need to be repugnant instead of supportive. Or else you need to fark up on set or props and have a tree fall on the lead actor or something.

This lawsuit sounds pointless.

Why does this stupid term keep coming up? People that have something against homosexuals aren't AFRAID of them, they just don't like them for whatever reason. Call them intolerant or bigoted if you have to but not afraid.

I fear what I do not understand. I can appreciate the male form and admire many qualities of a man. I just don't have any desire to be intimate with one, and I don't understand that desire. So, sure, I guess I'm afraid. And maybe I'm gay.
