Man, if you would have listened to me years ago you too would have always seen fruit this way! Like, wow, man, I can't even go down a produce aisle without hearing the opening strains of "White Rabbit"!

The watermelon is great, you can see how the seeds are sort of spiral arranged.

Neato mosquito torpedo, this site...

lady_nocturne: I freaking LOVE the animations--absolutely amazing!

They were cool but I don't like that they all turned on automatically. It's too ADD for my taste. I like the mushroom.

That was totally awesome. The durian looks like the malevolent dark heart of some horrible demon, which would explain the smell.

I'm wondering who ACTUALLY is doing this, and where there's an MRI laying around for people to use. And who pays the power bill etc.

That said, this is f*cking awesome.

I liked this the other day when it got redlit. Glad to see it go green.

Or you could get a knife and just slice it in half. Not as exciting, but less expensive.

Haha I was thinking the same thing - durian is throughly evil inside and out, and this proves it.

Most everything else reminded me of a kaleidoscope, or an old Starburst commercial - cool!

LOL. And somewhere, somebody is being denied a MRI to diagnose their cancer because they forgot to tell their insurance agency that they sneezed last Thursday.

Amazing images. Such complexity. Some of those plants even looked like fractals in some respects. Then again in nature it seems like many fractal elements keep appearing.

As someone who just had an MRI of her knee for $800+ (strained MCL from bad landing on a waterslide), I'm hoping the fruits have insurance.

I thought the same sort of thing. No wonder so many Asian hotels don't let you bring it in.
It's also attractive in it's natural state, like a festering taint scrapings.

Don't be silly, there are no fractals put there like it was designed that way. Its just evolved that way from 5 monkeys having buttsecks with a fish frog.

Um...wow.

Anyone got something for these guys to do? Like...I don't know...developing effective treatments or even cures for the world's deadliest diseases?

Cuz...ya know...they're MRI'ing fruit, y'all. They must be bored.

OMG, that pic right there says it all...they look like mouldering zombie scrotums (scroti?)...which would probably be a tastier alternative to durian.

I suppose this is pointless on Fark but-

Yes, we know, they could have used the MRI time to diagnose tumors inside the colons of bangaldeshi orphans with AIDS.

Leaving aside the obvious point that MRI's for fruit that is at most two feet long and can lie still on its own doesn't take all that long-

once in a while the point isn't "this could be put to better use." Once in a while, the point is "Hey, here is this beautiful thing." or "hey, we used this tool, this technology, this idea to look at something in a new way and its really frickin' cool." If all we ever did was live with our noses to the grindstone, we'd all burn out in a week, and no one would get anything done.

Was it useful? Define useful. It is something cool. It is something beautiful. It certainly fits within many definitions of art. It made my day, at least, a little cooler.

So: tl;dr?

LIGHTEN UP, FRANCIS.
