Probably a black guy... the governor just wants to seem minority-friendly thanks to the recent "papers please" law... what's the solution? Free a dark-skinned murderer. Awesome.

Wouldn't the pardon only apply to the killings prior to the deal and not the ones (two cops) afterward?

Only pardoning the guy??? Why doesn't he have the guy over for dinner, give him the key to the city and provide his wife and daughter to satisfy his pent up sexual needs?

Because the guy is dead, and it would be creepy to have a corpse over for dinner.

He killed two cops to keep from being killed, it's what you're supposed to do in that situation.

Yawn. Consider all you want. I consider banging every chick I meet.

Even Ollinger's mother was glad Billy killed him.

Wallace was in cahoots with McSweeny, that's why Billy never got his pardon or even a chance to talk to Wallace.

Burn_Atlanta: In to watch morans comment without RTFA.

When I read the headline, I thought for a second they were talking about Micheal Paul Astorga. Big cop-killer case out here. And I thought to myself, 'If he pardons that guy, I'm leaving. I'm leaving, and I'm never coming back to this shiathole, cause I've had about enough of this bullshiat liberal progressive pilfering, the kickbacks, the outright lies, the pisspoor spending policies. I'm sick of the state taking people's money and then spending twice as much so they can have excuse to take some more. I'm sick of the crappy educational system, and the laws that drive out business and kill entrepenurial spirit. I love this state, I love the people here, but 50+ years of full democratic control has destroyed us.'

Then I clicked the link. Billy the Kid? Oh. Carry on. Might as well, since Mr. Richardson has been a lame duck ever since he made a deal with the Justice department to avoid investigation for what amounts to thievery. Did you guys know you can trade a potential cabinet spot to avoid being charged with stealing from over 2 million people? Because apparently, you can.

fark Bill Richardson.

Actually, I would request that Farkers act perfectly consistent with whatever you normally do. I've read the article and I don't think there's anything particularly surprising there.

It still is. I don't know where you live, but unless it's Mississippi or Chicago, your area of residence doesn't hold a candle to the parlor tricks and scheming the politicans do down here.

I'll bet Richardson is fapping to this as we write. In fact, I think we can safely say this is Richardson's "Ice-T" moment. Liberals. Is there anything they can't fark up?

In the book he was called both actually, he prefered the Kid and hated being called Wild Bill.

Like the drink, but spelled different.

The things liberals can't fark up, I'm sure the republicans can. It's the whole reason we have 2 parties, to make sure that everything is always farked.

What a completely horrible governor Bill Richardson is. His state is one of those with the harshest levels of poverty. He's simply a failure.

This is yet another damn shiny distraction. Stop electing these idiots.

Bonney was no saint but there is a lot of stuff he was charged with that he didn't do.

In the escape/murder thing, he was involved in a gunfight but it is unlikely he killed anyone. In exchange for his testimony, Governor Lew Wallace agreed to grant him amnesty, but reneged.

He had him arrested anyway, and Billy broke out, killed two guards and made good his escape.

Pat Garrett hunted him down and killed him for that, but he never should have been in prison anyway.

Screwed up all around.

I used to worship outlaw cowboys. They were my heroes. But then, one, day, this old man comes to my door. He comes in, and tells me that they weren't heroes. They were murderers! In fact, his own family was killed by Jesse James himself! I was reluctant to take him as his word and that my heroes weren't like I thought. But then, that night-I had this dream. Me and my family were on this old-west train, and Jesse James' gang was robbing it. They were terrorizing everybody, and then the shooting began. My parents, my brothers, my sisters--even the maid! They were all downed by Jesse James. I woke up terrified. I realized then--cowboy outlaws were not figures to be admired. They were bad!

After that, I was in Watts, where my dad and I ran this old junk yard. My Aunt Ethel had dropped by to collect donations for her church....

Well, injustices occur all the time. It's not acceptable for a governor to condone murdering cops in your escape, when you don't get the illegal deal you expected to get.

Richardson just spat in the faces of the families of fallen police. They don't ask to pay the price for these Governors playing political games with the criminal justice system.

Remember, there are people starving to death in this state today.

It's so great Bill has nothing better to do than this.

You get the government you deserve, New Mexico. That is for sure.

Arcanum: Remember, there are people starving to death in this state today.

There are people starving to death in all 50 states today. Which means all 50 state governors should drop everything and feed them. Except in Miami, where that's a $300 fine.
