Most bottled water is just repackaged tap water anyways.

You can't just quench thirst. You have to mutilate it.

Sixty lashes for a first offense, and you've got my endorsement.

If you're going to be an arbitrarily authoritarian regime, you might as well go whole-hog.

/hogs are banned on city property.

Repackaged in a way to carry it around and drink it. Way does San Fran hate po(r)table water?

They'll find something else to sell I'm sure, possibly something that plants crave.

Oh no, what have they done??? Surely they realize that no one could survive and stay hydrated before the invention of plastic bottles in the 20th century! Surely they know there don't exist reusable bottles that people who aren't lazy shiats could use to bring their own water. They could even have developed a habit of keeping several of these reusable containers of water in their cars all the time just in case, and turned this into a non-issue! Hell, it's not as if they could have some sort of "filtration system" and taps at event locations so people could refill these refillable containers. (If such a thing existed, mind you.)

Too bad there's no viable alternatives to selling water in disposable bottles that waste huge amounts of energy in production, transportation, and recycling. Are they trying to make everyone die of thirst???

Bottled water is for farking idiots anyway. When people finally caught wind that paying $1 for a bottle of nearly-free is absurd, Evian decided to pump out ads literally saying 'Evian is good for you"

I reuse the disposable ones. That way, when I buy a container, it comes with water, and I don't have to waste resources washing it when it starts to get a little ripe.

WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?!

I like Perrier in a glass bottle.

There is a certain taste to the lime version that is appealing. Nothing else I've tried comes close to it.

Plus, something about the stuff really gives my burps some serious resonance. I can let fly and all of the birds in the surrounding trees all crap at once. Regular soda just doesn't give me the raw power for burps like these.

In all seriousness, the tap water that the City gets is from Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, one of the cleanest and most pure in the nation, so I can somewhat understand this. The tap water is more pure than any bottled water you can get.

Ok, Mayor Newsome, we understand your point of view.

Some of us are biatching about some other issue.
You know, like that of our government passing 5 million unnecessary laws banning us from doing normal, reasonable things.
Things like selling bottled water to a customer who requests it.
Things like buying a puppy from the local animal rescue.
You freaking liberal nuts are just as bad as the jesus-farking conservative nuts, just in different ways. All of you just want the government to pass a bunch of laws to force everyone to do exactly what you want. Fark all of you, and leave us alone.

Unless you are scooping water out of a ditch or a natural body of water, you are paying for the water. The anti-bottled water tards just make the false assumption that because you don't pay at point of use, then it must be "free". It is paid for by taxation and its costs are hidden. If someone is bottling it, then you will pay for this service. Labor is not free.

Bottled water is, by and large, farking stupid. Not to mention the amount of trucks that add to traffic in a city with bad traffic congestion and poor air quality.

On the flip side, great ideas in this city are usually carried out in the most moronic way possible, rendering them useless or making things worse than they were before. I don't really care, I'm pretty sure I'm moving in a year to get away from the people.

So you're really saying that you have never driven down the road 100 miles from anywhere, when is hot out and everything in your car is steaming, stopped at a 7-11 and bought a bottle of ice cold water? Really? You must not get out much. Work in an office with a drinking fountain? Maybe your delivery van has a refrig? Or do you know someone everywhere you go and they allow you to use their faucets?

That may be so, but it has nothing to do with selling bottled water. I live in Seattle, and our tap water is some of the finest I've ever had, but people are still free to sell bottled water here. As they should be.

Wow. Seriously? I'm with you on 'why pay for something that's free from the faucet' (i'd prefer a soda or iced tea or seltzer just so I feel like I'm getting something for my dollar) and I'm even with the SF city council that bottled water is a waste of resources. But there have been numerous occasions (lets say, 2 to 4 times per year) where the convenience of a purchasing a bottle of water outweighed those reasons. You've never bought a bottle of any size?

not a chance in hell that i would ever live on cape cod, although my family helped pay for judge reggies place on martha's vineyard.

our water comes from a 3200 well with no treatment other than state mandated chlorine, which we filter with charcoal.

This argument is a great templet for any proposition to drive us backi into the Stone Age. "Oh Noez...what did we ever do before the automobile, the computer, modern medicine, etc.?!?!?!"

No one is saying that outlets can't sell bottled water in their establishments. They are saying that you can't sell bottled water at events held on city property. You can still get water, just not in easy to use bottles. They'll even provide or sell reuseable containers that you can fill from a cistern or water fountain.

Where do you live that you can keep water in your car and not have it turn to steam? I tried keeping a gallon water jug in the car and it blew the top off when it sat in the shade inside my car.

Basically if you're against this, you're an asshole.

Bottled water=completely unnecessary, plastic bottles don't go away.

Get a canteen.
