hehe... my son came to me last night and said "Dad, can we go to Calgary one day?"

I replied "Well sure, but why would you WANT to." Then I laughed.

Which confused him because he doesn't yet "get" the whole "Canada East" vs "Canada West" thing yet.

I'm not one of those Albertans.

I'm a prairie liberal lost in a sea of incompetent PC blue.

There was a Holiday Inn commercial a few years ago where everyone in this fictitious office is trying to pass off a trip to Calgary. A lot of Calgarians got all indignant, like they couldn't believe anyone wouldn't like Calgary.

This is the same city that told Robert Duvall not to come back because he said he didn't like the city much.

Bunch of thin-skinned crybabies.

Sure. We go to work by dog sled, across the frozen tundra while being chased by polars bears on skates. With hockey sticks. Toting Molsons, kegs of maple syrup and lots of bacon. I can hardly wait till the sun comes up for that brief moment in August so I can glisten shiny white like a vampire in a Twilight movie.

Save the Twilight thing that sounds pretty farking sweet. Just one question: who puts the skates on the polar bears?

it's going to be fun watching "conservatives" twist themselves into knots blaming obama for america's unemployment rate by lauding socialist canada's lower unemployment rate.

Well. The average Canadian is worth 2 1/8 bushcord of hardwood. OR 3 3/32 facecord. So that works out to 43 and eleventy fifths of one half per American I reckon. Thanks for asking.

When I think about the economy, the trees, the legal weed, and the healthcare, I really start to wonder.

Then, I remember how much I love America. I will never leave you, America. I will never ever ever ever leave you, you beautiful, wheat-covered Godsend. Book me a room at Disneyland.

Hey - are many of you US Farkers aware that there are several million Canadians who live further south than many millions of your fellow citizens? Wish I could put my finger on the numbers.

I was just in Toronto last month and I'm hoping some Toronto native can explain to me what is going on with all those high-rise condo's going up on the lake side of the highway going from Massasauga to downtown.

Is there some sort of Toronto population boom going on? There had to be aboot 15-20 highrises under construction!

Love that town.

And they have a much better economy because WHY? Because they regulated their banks and didn't allow them to pull the stupid stunts that American banks did.

The largest visible minority groups in Canada are South Asian (4%), Chinese (3.9%) and Black (2.5%)

Interesting.

It's more where you live. Not which country.

If you live in more middle America states, or a few select northeast states, you would be in better unemployment shape than Canada.

I don't thinknits a boom per se. The city's population has never really stopped growing. The biggest chunk of new immigration is to TO and it seems like half the kids born in rural Ontario move there after high school

Canada reportedly had no banking-fiscal-mortgage crisis.

Damn Socialists!

"Contrary to its neighbour and biggest trading partner, the United States, Canada did not have to come to the aid of its banking sector and its real estate market flourished despite an international mortgage crisis."
