Rest In Peace. You had my favorite line on "land of 1,000 dances" on the original Wrestling Album.

2003-06-03 11:12:19 AM
Okay, well I guess this means that 'the last Geek bit the dust.'

So much for those grit eatin', scum suckin', boot lickin', drop kickin', gut grindin, nail bitin', glue sniffin,
scab pickin', butt scratchin, egg hatchin', sleazy, smelly, peckered[?] bellied, dirty lousy rotten smelly freaks.

2003-06-03 11:32:48 AM
Very sad. Just three weeks ago he was in the action on RAW.

Adios to a legend.

Freddie, say hi to the Grand Wizard of Wrestling when you get to the big squared circle in the Sky

2003-06-03 11:36:59 AM
They just can make up personalities like these guys anymore. It's sad to see the classics go.

I met Maurice "Mad Dog" Vachon at a T-Shirt shop I used to work at a few years back. What a character.

2003-06-03 11:37:49 AM
Just want to pay my respects to a true legend of the squared circle.

RIP Freddie.

2003-06-03 11:39:34 AM
Who?

2003-06-03 11:39:42 AM
I really didn't see him wrestle since I grew up during the Hogan, Giant, Junkyard Dog, and Moolah days. However I did see him on RAW 3 weeks ago. Cool guy. Classy indeed.

2003-06-03 11:40:12 AM
Hey wait! That wasn't in the script!

2003-06-03 11:40:28 AM
Wrestling is REAL.

RIP Freddie

2003-06-03 11:40:28 AM
People truly hated that guy, which is of course a testament to how he did his job.

RIP

2003-06-03 11:41:04 AM

That was a scary looking dude.

2003-06-03 11:41:23 AM
Is this a real wrestler? Or a fat-guy-in-panties wrestler?

oh.

/just clicked link

Keep the faith, 'cause in Blassie you can trust...

2003-06-03 11:42:10 AM
RIP o Classy One...

*sniff*

2003-06-03 11:42:30 AM
That's funny... Google doesn't have any more pictures of 'wrestlers' of this guy's caliber...

2003-06-03 11:42:31 AM
Was he a Farker? Can we set up a pay-pal account for him?

2003-06-03 11:42:42 AM
RIP Freddie. A true class act until the end.

On a sidenote, booksales will be going up.

/tasteless.

2003-06-03 11:42:43 AM

Now thats pencil necked geek!

2003-06-03 11:43:11 AM
Am I the only one that never heard of this guy?

2003-06-03 11:43:43 AM
I had the pleasure of watching Mr. Blassie wrestle in the early 70's at a small auditorium here in the next town over. He was on a card with Big Ernie Ladd, Haystacks Calhoun and Andre The Giant. I met all 4 men and being around 10 was star struck.

Classy doesn't even come close. The man had razor sharp teeth and knew how to use them.

(w)rest(le) in peace!

Semi-Sane, No you are not.

2003-06-03 11:47:04 AM
For once a wrestler dies of old age. Then again, it may have been the extreme shame he feels for what WWE has done to his "profession" (hitting rock bottom and starting to dig...did you see that Hogan lie detector test?).

2003-06-03 11:47:54 AM
Mr. Blassie did a movie with Andy Kaufman and several LP's for Rhino Records, and he was a wrestler of note.

2003-06-03 11:47:55 AM
Yeah he just had a book released about his career, right?

2003-06-03 11:48:07 AM
did he wrestle back in the days when wrestling was real?

2003-06-03 11:48:12 AM
Hopefully Heaven has a Sambo's for Andy Kaufman and him to eat some breakfast.

2003-06-03 11:48:24 AM
As I understand it, he's been stabbed about 20 times by angry fans. Anybody that can make people hate him that much is worth my respect.

RIP Mr. Blassie.

2003-06-03 11:49:02 AM
Isuldirs.. Thats a great pic.. He needs to be on the personals Caption" I love trees cause I'm a real sap"

GoodyearPimp

There has been an upswing in the ridiculous the past few years, sadly...

And Freddie...

06-03-03 11:48:07 AM Emasedawg

did he wrestle back in the days when wrestling was real?

Ummm... he was only 85. Wrestling's been "fake" since about 1910.

2003-06-03 11:50:04 AM
A truly epic heel in the ring, Blassie was considered the standard by which you base your character. You could almost write a textbook according to his persona and acting.

RIP Blassie. You did it and you did it well

2003-06-03 11:51:30 AM
Didn't he wrestle Abe Lincoln for the NWA Title back when wrestling was "real"?

/lame attempt at humor

2003-06-03 11:52:32 AM
TigoleBitties has my exact sentiments plus he made the Iron Shiek my fav heel in the 80's; RIP Blassie

2003-06-03 11:53:14 AM
I've never seen him wrestle, but I read a story about his career in a wrestling magazine a few years back, and I caught his appearance on RAW a few weeks back. I was curious as to why he would be there, but he looked like he was enjoying himself.

I watched King and JR talk about his passing last night on RAW. I don't think I've ever seen King cry. Sad.

RIP, Freddie.

I'm not sure how Vince McMahon will spin Freddie's death, but I'm sure he will some how find a way to blame the now defunct WCW for it.

2003-06-03 12:02:36 PM
Pencil neck geek, grit eatin' freak,
scum suckin', pea head with a lousy physique.
He's a one man, no gut, loosing streak.
Nothin' but a pencil neck geek.

2003-06-03 12:03:37 PM
Please remove the Hulkamaniac bandannas from your head for a moment of silence...

8-(

At least he didn't die of a farking drug overdose, as is sadly all too often the case with the workers today. Freddie was the Man.

Anybody remember Blassie's involvment with the whole "Invasion" angle WWE nee WWF did back in 2001? So much potential for a great angle and it was largely wasted, with the exception of Freddie, who was brought in complete with purple sequined shirt and cane to the WWF locker room to give the wrestlers a "win one for the Gipper" speech? The old bastard could barely stand up by himself, yet there he was motivating the troops. I was nearly in tears seeing Freddie again. It was the brightest spot of that whole botched angle.

God bless you, you pencil-necked geek. Thanks for everything.

2003-06-03 12:05:07 PM
Truly the best heel ever. Entertaining until the end...especially the way he slammed Bischoff on Raw a few weeks ago. There will never be another one like him.

R.I.P...and try to keep the insults to a minimum when meeting up with St. Peter.

2003-06-03 12:05:57 PM
Man that's creepy, just saw an ad for his book on a WWE tv show over the weekend. RIP.

2003-06-03 12:07:41 PM
I knew when I submitted the 1wrestling link for this subject I should have thrown in a "pencil-necked geek" one-liner in the headline. So, will the Confidential on his life be this week or next?

2003-06-03 12:09:23 PM
POWRSURG: You tried to submit a 1wrestling link? Shame on you.

2003-06-03 12:13:35 PM
Papazulu: Too true. It was such a shame they way they screwed that up: they had WWF, WCW, AND ECW and that was the best they could come up with?

Also, Kane's been jobbing WAY too much

2003-06-03 12:15:58 PM
RIP Freddie, you left an awful lot of blood in your wake.

POWRSURG: I don't think there's a porn site on the net with as many pop-ups as 1bigPoS.

I remember when Freddie and his nemesis John "The Golden Greek" Tolos took their act to Japan. At every show they did, at least one audience member couldn't take the action and died of a heart attack. Freddie may had been a fat guy-in-panties wrestler, but he was doing deathmatches long before they were called deathmatches, and they were good enough to scare people to death!

He also broke Regis Philbin's index finger once. That was fun to watch :) And the time that he was pretending to be a certain sportswriter and charging dinners to the said sportwriter's tab until that sportswriter threatened to tell everybody Freddie's true age :D

Fvck all those MTV wrestler wannabes, gimme Classy Freddie Blassie anytime!

2003-06-03 12:19:45 PM
Hey, I remember this guy. Hell my favorite wrester of all time is Ivan Putzki, "The Polish Hammer". Best signature wrestling move, and he sure as hell didn't need entrance music to make him more interesting. What's up with wrestling nowadays, they talk so muck it's like a soap opera in tights. So boring. If I want talk, I'll watch Days of Our Lives.

2003-06-03 12:22:15 PM
I submitted this as a 411 link mere minutes after Ross announced it on Raw. As a matter of fact, as soon as Ross said he had some sad news to tell us, I said "Oh no - Freddie Blassie...". My wife thought it was downright eerie, as I said it moments before Jim Ross did. I'm glad he got his book out - all of us heels out here in the working world can make a living by being 1/10 as good as Freddie was on his worst day.

R.I.P., Mr. Blassie.
