No SlapShot? Paul Newman will kick your ass from behind the grave!

I kind of like Remember the Titans. It's easy to tell whether or not things are going well for the team.

Badly: Dramatic, orchestral score
Well: 60's rock music

Invincible? Really?

Jesus...at least put in an effort.

If you're not going to put in one of Kevin Costner's sports movies, you really don't have a decent list.

And Slapshot need to be near the top.

2010-07-07 04:47:20 PM
He omitted The Pride of the Yankees. :(

2010-07-07 04:57:23 PM
M*A*S*H is a better football movie than The Longest Yard.

Rollerball

The best sports movies are movies that aren't really concerned with the sport, but with the characters.

What a shiatty list.

Chariots of Fire has to be in there for a start.
Loads of decent/better sports films...

Slap Shot, Field of Dreams, Mean Machine (not the shiatty remake), The Pride of the Yankees, Man of Bronze, Raging Bull, King Pin, Big Lebowski, Le Mans, Rollerball, Lagaan, Tin Cup, Grand Prix, The Hustler, Cool Runnings, This Sporting Life - I'm sure there's loads more.

2010-07-07 06:43:11 PM
No mention of "The Sandlot"?

Awesome movie, but IMHO....it doesn't really count as a sports movie. Besides, they don't even show The Dude bowl, maaaan.

2010-07-07 07:37:50 PM
Sliding Carp: Rollerball

I came in here to say that. And Major League. How the heck could they leave off Major League?

The only reason I remember that one is because that was what was playing on the TV on the bus on my senior trip while we were stuck in traffic on the Thruway.

Yeah, that's a bad miss, and there's a couple others there which I either don't like or find horribly overrated. But they got The Natural and Hoosiers so I'm done biatching.

Not even a Yankee fan, but I think 61* needs to be on there.

/I'm sure by total coincidence, Ken Burn's 'Baseball' is on TV right now. If you haven't seen it and have a netflix account and about 2-weeks to spare, I'd highly recommend it.

All the Right Moves????? Cruise is a total douche Let's hear it for the 5'1" football star. Rudy would kick his butt.
