True. He would be better off spending the money having airbags installed in the sidewalk in front of his apartment.

too soon?...probably.

But seriously fewer things in life could dull the pain than a custom built Ferrari.

I read an article years ago in Rolling Stone where he said he basically created the Blues.

So...we'll use a pic of Eric with a driver that's not driven for Ferrari in how long?

Yeah. As a dad I honestly don't think I could go on if it happened to me.

But the Ferrarri thing? Right now I am working in a ritzy place where every third vehicle is a supercar.

Gotta say the people than can actually afford them look like tools in those rides.

and, now that the record industry is dead, we'll be seeing less and less of rich musicians blowing his money on bullshiat, especially the older ones. they'll start buying big-ass mattresses to stuff their soon-to-be-useless cash in.

Eric Clapton isn't cool, subby. You know what is cool? Loving though neighbor. Accepting Jesus in your heart. There is nothing cooler than that.

That car with be worth a serious farkload when Clapton kicks the bucket. Especially if they only make one 12cyl model.

I dunno, if I let my kid fall out of a window to his death, my first instinct wouldn't be to write a song about it and sell it for use in a major motion picture and Mtv video but that's me.

To be fair, Robert Johnson owned them first.

Shame on Subby for not taking advantage of a culturally appropriate use of the Sick Tag.

LeroyBourne: I read an article years ago in Rolling Stone where he said he basically created the Blues.

[citation needed]

clapton's always been extremely clear that he was influenced by early black bluesmen, robert johnson in particular. i highly doubt he ever said he "basically created the blues."

Yeah, I know it's the cool thing nowadays to slag on Clapton, diss Zeppelin, say Pink Floyd is over rated, etc.

But I have been emotionally moved (in a good way) by Clapton's solo's more than any other guitarist. He knows when to play and when not to better than anyone else I've heard. If he wants a custom Ferrari, he can have one.

luckyeddie: The music the man produces is the epitome of cool - always has been and always will be.

Whoa, wait just a minute. The man is an incredible technical guitarist. No one can argue that.

But his music is largely bland and boring. He managed to fark up "I Shot the Sheriff" and "Cocaine." Oh, then he said "Cocaine" was an anti cocaine song. Riiight.

That song you didn't write. Tell me more about its meaning. Oh yeah, and he's made racist comments. I'm sure Bob would love that.

LOL He just behaved like any man, only with more $$$$$ and a guitar. Would still boink him tho.

And I find it interesting that after all these years Patty Boyd has to spill about her "horrible" life with Eric Clapton. Sounds like a plan for $$$$ to me.

If he wants a 12 cylinder Ferrari, can afford a 12 cylinder Ferrari, then it ain't nobody's business but his.

Courvoisier and 7Up?! WTF? That sounds just nasty.

Wait, they claimed it wasn't? That's the first thing I thought of when I saw that years ago. I can't imagine what else it would be.

And sometimes addiction is the excuse people use for someone being a douche. With him I think that he was a douche beforehand, and then became an addict.

I saw 'Concert for George' the other night, and I'd never thought much about Clapton as a singer, but he did a lot of singing and pretty well too.

Being an addict isn't an excuse for being a douche.

Furthermore, being an addict is also inexcusable. Anyone who has the discipline to learn to play guitar that well has enough self control to not be an addict. He made a choice.

/Still love his music.

Go buy some B.B. King. Listen to it five times in a row before making a judgment. Thank me later.

I've heard B.B. King many times. Seen him in concert too along with others such as Jeff Beck, Steve Howe, David Gilmour. Jimmy Page, Jerry Garcia and Frank Zappa among others.

My statement concerning Eric Clapton still stands.

Like most of us common people, the vast majority of extremely talented artists are dickheads. That fact doesn't stop me from liking a lot them (including a lot of common people).

Clapton was a heroin addict for only 2 years. He drank like a fish for over 2 decades. Fortunately, you can still play pretty well while drunk. Now that he's sober, he is playing(and singing) better than ever (live).Writing Tears in Heaven, he says, was therapy for the loss of his son. The record company pressured him to release it commercially, as they did with August, Backless and a lot of other dreck he has put out. Met him once, and he was the nicest, most down-to-earth and humble guy you could ever rap with. There are a lot of douchebags in the music biz, but he is definitely not one of them.
