What an awful story. Anyone got a link with, oh I dunno, WHY he went on stage? WHAT he was arrested for?

I mean WTF!? A farking hot dog eating contest does not exactly bring to mind contracts, leagues, heavy security, or arrests.

Welcome to the world. This ride is not safe for children, pregnant women, or those paying attention. Please keep your wallet ready at all times. Indigestion bags are tucked into the seat-back in front of you.

/The only reason I'm aware of this is because I've had so many similar WTF moments that it's becoming commonplace now

I'd take that bet. Kobayashi had been saying for days he wanted to compete but didn't want to sign their contract. He's jealous.

When will we get the MLE draft show on ESPN8 ? While this non-sport, non-event struggles for relavence, some twatwad lawyer is getting rich managing contracts. There is no low too low.

He was arrested for resisting arrest, but why was he arrested in the first place? It doesn't make sense!

Yes, I am trying to make sense out of a hot dog eating contest.

mrbumpy: THERE IS NO "SPORT" WITHOUT KOBAYASHI.

I'm a big fan of his kamikaze style, and he did a very good job last week at the European GP. It was a good race.

Eating contests, however, are stupid. I just don't know how he can participate in such a lame event.

But Kobayashi went on stage after the competition. Police officers grabbed him, and he tried to hold onto police barricades as they took him into custody.

Looks like Kobayashi got himself into a no-win situation.

He was under arrest Sunday afternoon, charged with resisting arrest, trespass and obstructing governmental administration

In other news, the Government is now in charge of hot dog eating contests.

They show the competition once a year on ESPN, and pretty much everyone involved seems to understand what a joke it is. It's harmless, and all it does is take up an hour of ESPN's airtime and prevent them from showing yet another SportsCenter rerun. I wouldn't say they're "struggling for relevance" so much as "not caring at all about relevance."

Wait a minute, America does recognize soccer as a game played by women.
Also, Kirk is the only one to have ever beaten the Kobayashi.

No, the contestants will be shiatting copious quantities of highly processed chicken, pig, cow and insect parts along with the odd, stray finger from the illegal immigrants hired to work for substandard wages at the meatpacking factory.
