and on a sad note Yoko Ono is still alive.....

Just leave it alphabetical. All credits should just be alphabetical or "in order of appearance". Damn people need their egos fed though, I guess.

The Fab Four won't play, due to a bullet
Post-John, Paul got all avunculate*
Then, George found out that cancer
Won't take no for an answer
Now the best they can do is a duet.

*look it up.

"Happiness is a warm gun"
That proves Lennon knew he was going to be shot.

McCartney is much more talented than Lennon ever was.

And you would comport yourself differently at age 60 when you are one of the last two members of the most popular band in history how, exactly?

God, the mental image of Yoko Ono kissing Paul McCartney's ass was not one I wanted while eating.

EG-Fox, Prozac. It does wonders.

Personally, I sorta dig Harrison and the sitar music he did. I wonder why Yoko isn't trying to crap on that too?

hmmmm?

some people thought McCartney was seeking the credit change b/c of how John died -- how he became a bigger part of the culture in death, than the beatles were in life. some speculated that Paul wanted to ... adjust his place in history to compensate.

i dunno.

like others, i'm kinda glad he decided to drop it. the beatles fans that matter KNOW who wrote which song.

I was a total beatles worshipper when I was a teenager. On Dec. 9th, mom woke me up, solemn-faced, and showed me the paper, with the headline "John Lennon, shot dead". I felt like someone punched me in the stomache and I couldn't catch my breath for the next month. It was farking depressing beyond belief.

The Beatles are without a doubt the greatest farking band EVER. They've influenced countless musicians since, and have been such an inspiration to people everywhere.

The Beatles are dead....long live the Beatles!

Ch4r7ie:

If that was a troll, I'm gonna be embarassed,,,

It's "Her Majesty," not "Maggie."

Paul wrote it.

***

In other news:

Lennon spoke to and for a generation, and because of that, he is important and missed.

So did Cobain, I guess, but I'd feel better about asserting that if he had lived long enough to amass a larger body of work.

might have been a troll.... listened 1st to make sure i had the cadence sorta, her majesty topless? eek, prozac cleanup aisle 5

those are supple mountains majesty(maggie)
but, i'd photographer her better

i think a couple songs, like yesterday , ballad of j-o

I agree with Paul, that screech owl Yoko can kiss my white butt too.

2003-06-02 02:10:53 AM
gawd... Yoko-hating is tired. You may not like her music (I don't care for much of it myself) but this whole "yoko is evil/broke up the beatles/was using lennon" crap is bull. John truly loved Yoko, the Beatles woulda broken up anyway, and she was a wealthy artist who had worked with people like John Cage when she met John. How come no one ever talks about Linda McCartney's lack of musical talent? You think Yoko can't sing, Linda was prolly a thousand times worse. I have some respect for Yoko, and think she's gotten a rotten deal from the public.

I've been a huge Beatles fan since I was a kid (I grew up in the detestable '80s, and had to listen to '60s music to not have my intelligence insulted by the music of that era, save Stone Roses, Love & Rockets, and Smiths)...but I have never ever associated that song with Lennon's murder till just now.

Can't believe I ever missed it. Makes that song just a bit creepier than usual, huh?

Maybe Ch4r7ie was confused with the other little Beatles ditty about old, used-up British ladies:

Oh dirty Maggie Mae they have taken her away
And she'll never walk down Lime Street any more
Oh the judge he guilty found her
For robbing a homeward bounder
That dirty no good robbin' Maggie Mae
To the port of Liverpool
They returned me to
Two pounds ten a week, that was my pay

Sounds enough like Her Majesty to me...

Something like 70% of the original releases WERE credited as lennon-mcartney - this is just an extension of an urban legend. Go and find an original if you don't believe me!

Jeeze,

You'd think a guy that rich and famous could land a chick with two legs.

2003-06-02 05:52:44 AM
Paul was the Beatles.

2003-06-02 06:50:31 AM
her majesty's a pretty nice girl
but she doesnt have a lot to say,
her majestys a pretty nice girl
but she changes from day to day

i wanna tell her that i love her a lot
but i gotta get a belly full of wine

her majestys a pretty nice girl
some day im gonna make her mine oh yeh!
some day im gonna make her mine

this kind of debate shows how the internet lets people who shouldnt be allowed to have opinions obtain a voice.

What has 3 legs and lives in the country?

The McCartneys!

Anybody catch the humorous shot at McCartney on Ringo Starrs new CD?

2003-06-02 09:53:43 AM
I remember where I was when I first heard "I Wanna hold Your Hand" the music was so different from everything else, ya had to be there I guess. Now I am old. These days, there's just too much music to keep up with but the Beatles tunes seem to to be wearing well.

I know who wrote what songs. I still hate Yoko.

Funny thing: my 13 y/o daughter started to play the guitar last September - last week she performed Yesterday at a recital. That song is still beautiful. I was so surprised she picked a Beatles tune. I asked her why..."Because it sounds a whole lot better than Pink or the rest of the Shiat I listen to."

2003-06-02 10:37:29 AM
Anybody have a list, or a link to the list, for the 20 songs Paul wanted primary or sole credit for?

2003-06-02 11:46:58 AM
Ch4r7ie-

A good rule of thumb is that whomever sung the song was likely the writer as well. May not be true in all cases, but you'll be right more than not (especially in the later works)

2003-06-02 12:18:53 PM
I thought Michael Jackson bought all their songs.

2003-06-02 12:19:29 PM
Speaking of which, MJ and Yoko would make a great couple...

2003-06-02 03:43:46 PM
The Beatles were awesome, but some of the fanboys hate either John or Paul. Its disturbing. Why do you have to hate 2 of the greatest musicians who ever lived?

Oh, and Zeppelin was more influential to rock than the Beatles were. The Beatles were influential to pop-rock, which I hate them for!

2003-06-02 04:26:38 PM
my goodness. people are taking me seriously, wow

i even said i'd listened to it before changing it,

i was refering to sbb maggie

who was unknown to sir paul

but if you sing it backwards you can hear me channeling someone

Mayhem_King:
10. Strawberry Fields Forever/Candy Flip is the best beatles cover ever. 10,000 peaking ravers circa 1990 can't be wrong!

uh, sure they can, but you're dead on about that track. it IS pretty classic. i might have to dig that out.

Someone's knocking on the door
Someone's ringing the bell
Open the door
Let him in
