"Cut & Paste" is no way to make music, subby.

2010-06-29 01:49:36 PM
Subby: "...and it's pure concentrated awesome."

I respectfully disagree. It's pure concentrated "meh".

Although I will say that the producer managed to totally nail the "wicked overproduced" sound of the late 70s & 80s pop/rock scene. Nailed it to a T. So I guess if they were going for that overproduced not-quite-wall-of-sound sound, they sure succeeded.

So we switched one sucktastic Rock Sugar song for a different one? This is just as bad as the Metallica thing this morn.

2010-06-29 03:14:42 PM
I was under the impression that "video" meant "moving images". Evidently, I was wrong.

Infamous Dr. X: I respectfully disagree. It's pure concentrated "meh".

Bingo.

hmmm, not sure is Subby is familiar with the meaning of the "pure concentrated awesome" meme.

Or maybe I'm just jaded because we have about five dozen of these types of bands playing at C-List Casinos all over Vegas.

2010-06-29 04:23:58 PM
I submitted this with different headline

2010-06-29 04:57:59 PM
Snore.

And I grew up on 60's, 70's, and 80's music.

Writing a good song is all about the story, insight, and a unique vision with the lyrics. Writing a good song is all about a solid melody that sticks in your head, chord transitions that make sense (and aren't done just to be "cute"), and an orchestration that fits both.

This mishmash has none of the above.

Could it work? Yes. Did this particular mix work? No.

OK . . . maybe as a novelty . . . and maybe if you've not heard 1000s of cover bands in lounges, bars, and Saturday / Sunday concerts do the same thing.

/ meh

True, but Breakfast In America was released on March 29, 1979 and topped the charts during the Spring and Summer of that year.

2010-06-29 05:33:28 PM
yeah, let's mash up four songs and not be as good as any one of them!

2010-06-29 06:06:08 PM
So... Is there some sort of repulsive Rock Sugar trifecta in play, or would that require someone actually wanting to experience the finale?

2010-06-29 06:38:00 PM
SCREW YOU HATERS! I like it, and since I'm never wrong, that means that you are.

2010-06-29 06:58:45 PM
All I know is that I got laid a lot more in the 80s, so I miss them.

2010-06-29 07:14:34 PM
Damn. This is better than it has any right to be.

Rock Sugar - Dreaming of a Whole Lot of Breakfast

It sounds like something you'd name a children's cereal commercial.

2010-06-29 07:19:44 PM
I'm pretty sure the last time pop was real music was the 80s.

You mean the other *two* threads for this band that were green-lit in the last 24 hours or so. Still not your fault...

I'm looking at you, modmins.

I'm glad they gave us the option to switch it to 480p. Otherwise it would have sucked.

I liked this better when Jack Black did it.

By liked, I mean really despised.

By really despised, I mean could tolerate more than The Darkness.

By tolerate, I mean I'd rather have pins stuck in my balls than listen.

etc.

LOL M Y music I listen to is better than your music that you listen to.. always and forever!

Bag of Hammers: Or maybe I'm just jaded because we have about five dozen of these types of bands playing at C-List Casinos all over Vegas.

How many of those are fronted by an ex-Animaniac?

None you say?

Well then, point goes to Rock Sugar.

/I don't think this band takes themselves very seriously.
//So perhaps the rest of you shouldn't either.

The 30 seconds I listened to really sucked. Is a band member posting this dreck?

Well, for all the haters out there, here's Another Song (new window) that the lead singer is famous doing...

/OK, maybe a little ashamed.

Just because he has done some very cool stuff in the past doesn't polish these turds (anything Rocksugar) in my opinion.

Some of you got a lot of hate for a band that doesn't take themselves seriously.

You guys know you're knocking the voice of Wakko Warner right?
2.bp.blogspot.com

And the voice of Captain Hero?

The man can do no wrong. He gets an automatic pass for all the awesome he's accumulated.

this is beyond lame. anyone who thinks this is cool sucks.

bostonowns: this is beyond lame. anyone who thinks this is cool sucks.

Fine. I suck. But I'm not sorry for liking stuff like this. I enjoy a wide variety of music for various reasons. Sometimes the reason is simply "that's goofy and dumb, but I like it anyway." Because sometimes I'm just in the mood to enjoy something. And when you're in the right mood, any song can become a great song even if it's not. I like that about music.

2010-06-30 04:29:50 AM
Back in my day, this was called a medley. This one in particular isn't very good.

Did Wakko really say "I'll blow the load?"

2010-06-30 11:41:23 AM
I have shown this to most of my friends and one dude tried to punch me for making him hear it. Not one of them liked this "music". Everyone of them are Animaniac fans so I don't see how the singer being the voice of Wakko makes it worth ever hearing again. These opinions are from music fans of all kinds.

Yeah, nobody really cares about that. Are you in the band or dating someone in the band?

It reminds me of the Kid Rock song where he just snags bits from a bunch of good songs and then throws his crappy lyrics on top. Irritates me everydamntime.
